Hi all. Just picked my wife up an altea (now have his and hers) and the spring snapped the other night! So I thought it would be a good time to lower it slightly :D

Ordered a set of Apex springs (Always used Eibach Pro Kit on other cars), but money is a little tight with the 2 nippers :(

So set about removing the front struts, and what a pain in the :censored: I'm sure I have never had this much trouble before! Managed to get the drivers side one done (with the snapped spring) and all back together!

But really struggling with the N/S! I can't get the strut out?!?! It's almost like it's 6" too long?! Ive got everything off OK, hub tool in place and can slide the strut up and down I just can't get enough compression on the spring to remove it!

So... does anyone know the best way to do it? Do you have to remove the hub from the wishbone and disconnect the driveshaft etc?!

Any help much appreciated!!!

No worries mate! Springs finally on the car... What chuffing pain!

Seems to be settling quite nicely now! Only problem is, it's highlighted just how worn the shocks are. When funds are a bit better over the next couple of months, it will be getting a full set of new shocks, top mounts and droplinks.

Will get some pics up ASAP.

Nice good job! The rear end on my Altea is a bit squeeky at the moment and thinking if I need to replace any thing I'd rather do it with an upgrade than stock and make it worth while.

Looking forward to seeing the new stance and some feedback on the ride when it beds in.
