Floor soaked in the back!

After having this issue in my first Leon, when i got my second my first job was to go round all doors with sealant! I combined this with upgrading speakers and sound deadening but just sealant could be done in about 2 hrs or less! Heres where i sealed on doors (blue line) i didnt remove or loosen inner panel just added extra sealant! One small point this should be done when surfaces are dry!

Siliconing that area had crossed my mind, but i didnt want to accidently create a chamber for the water to sit in.
Yeah i'll wipe dry the area i'll silicone.

The bloke at the SEAT dealer i spoke on the phone to suggested that i done all the doors.
So ideally i should be able to put a door back together quite well by the 4th one!

Did you silicone like that on your 1st Leon?

Yeah after spendin a long time like you huntin the problem! my first LCR was back in 2002 and second 2005 second one has never leaked! The reason i mention dry is i had to do first one twice since water on original seal stopped sealant bonding and water crept round seal!

This job was beggining to become a bit of a nightmare!
If you know what your doing its not a problem, it is as you say getting to that stage which is the challenge!

I think i'll do as you did and just silicone the 'blue line' i know how to get that far with the door and dont want to push my luck by dismantling it any further.

I will make sure it is dry as i dont want to have to go through this procedure more than once!

So all you do is take the doorcard off and seal it up with silicon etc?

Yep that's basically it.
Follow the blue line that stpete drew on that image and it should be fine.
Mine's had no problems with it ever since.

so door panel off, loosen top row of bolts in next panel remove the others and seal tht up with silicone? both my drivers and passenger door seem to be leaking and the rear drivers side footwell is wet not good

Door card off (so it looks like the picture at the top of this page) loosen the bottom bolts so you can have easy access to the area your going to re-seal, re-seal the door (blue line) then leave to dry.

Could try different garages I had mine done by peugeot £110 for 4 doors an that included buying the rubber from SEAT an 1 an half hour labour. No problems since and that was 12 month ago!!

My drivers side was soaking aswell, I removed the drivers seat, and lifted the sound deadening months ago and its still not been put back in had to cut it out, as it is in one big sheet.
I found out that the water was coming in a above the pedal and not the door seal.
I removed the scuttle panel and sealed lots of area that looked like the water might come in and its alot better and only slightly leaks if it rains really heavy, still trying to find exact point, I just keep changing newspaper on drivers floor, which is rare now.
I recently got a search and seal liquid that I used which seems to have helped aswell, so hopefully that its sealed and might even get sound deadening back into the car.

Good luck, its very annoying, but I would lift carpet and dry it out properly so it doesn't smell, and in the winter you will find the inside of the car is frozen so try fix it before winter was a right pain in my arse, water and steamed up windows because of the condensation.

I posted a thread on it a while ago, but its an on going thing.
