Hey guys.

Does anyone have diagrams? dimentions? and detailed information on either forge/ allards/ seat sports front mounted intercooler(and piping)?

Have looked on vagcat with no such luck.

If anyone has old and abused pipes or intercooler which they dont want anymore PM me :)

cheers.

(this will be for PD130/160 users pipe wise, as the petrol pipework is different id asume?)

If I had to choose one, money being no option, I'd say SEAT sport. It's designed for the car by the manufacturers, it's cheapest, and it's biggest! (well, MUCH bigger than FORGE) and it's a lot better setup than Forge too....

And the SEAT sport needs no cutting of the crash bar, whereas the FORGE needs LOADS (very poor design) and Allards requires a bit and a lot of hard work.

What kind of dough are we talking for each of these?

Forge: £734.08 inc VAT.

Seat Sport: intercooler: £303 + FORGE piping = about £220 iirc.

Allards: About £550 - £600 iirc. But i have heard Allards have gone bust. Someone with more know may back this up?

So the SEAT sport on is the Easiest to Fit and the cheapest? any much of difference in gains from each one?

Pretty much yeh!

I think the bloke that had my Forge intercooler before had a big turbo and was getting around 70 degree intake temps.....whereas now he has the Allards set up and doesn't see about 40.

The Forge inlet/outlet are too close to each other to start with, you have to cut away a lot of the crash bar, so if you have an accident it'll fold easily as the crashbar isn't working the way it should.

SEAT sport fits behind the crashbar and the inlet/outlet are further apart (which also makes it easier to fit the bumper. The forge setup - the pipes catch on the fog light housing slightly = BIG pain in the arse.)

Was the Polo GTI 1.8T fitted with the same intercooler and would it fit a Fabia?

Anyone fitted a PD150 intercooler from a LEON to an Ibiza?

Rotherham, South Yorkshire!
TBH hhe forge intercooler looks to have not been thought through very well!!
Look how close the two pipes sit in relation to each other, soon as the air goes in it can come back out with no heat transfered unless the pipes are split by a baffle in the end tank?

Seat sports IC looks the dogs but the allard looks even better, it's flipping huge lol!!

Gonna have to go down the seat sport route soon with custom pipework ;)
Even though about running an IC witrh the conventional pipe in one end and out of the other but to return the pipe under the IC would mean alot of turbo lag, no??

I think the Forge model is a dual pass, so yes the air is forced all the way around the IC

Would i be right in thinking that i would have little to no hope of fitting a intercooler as i have headlight washers?

This is definitely correct for the SEAT cooler - this is why the Cupra couldn't be ordered with Xenon headlights. Forge also state on their website that their cooler won't fit if you have headlight washers

This is just a bit of a "feeler" - not guaranteed and could change at any moment but would anyone be interested in my FORGE setup? You'd get all the pipework too, including nice shiny charge pipe (which doesn't come with standard FORGE setup). And it'd come with the crash bar so it's just a case of swapping over....

plus postage and commision for using my thread of course :)

Exactly.

Tbh I think that's DIRT cheap at that too. I'd want about £400 for it. Maybe even more as the Forge setup new is £730 I think. And I'd sell the crash bar and more piping than forge actually supply!
