Not posted on here for a long time but though id share this. Got into detailing with a good friend of mine as a bit of a hobby, an expensive one at that.

Here goes then. Car was rinsed, snow foamed using Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II, washed, rinsed, de-tar'd using Autosmart tardis, snow foamed and rinsed again. Car was then dried using CYC blue fluffy towels. Then all taped up for machine work. VAG paint being typically hard, I worked up to the following combo - Yellow Hex Logoc pad and 3m Fast cut, re-worked with Hex Logic green polishing pad and Meguiars #82, snow foamed rinsed and dried once more. Then used black hex logic pad with Zaino AIO then a Zaino Z6 wipe down. Zaino Z2+ZFX then applied, 1st coat left for 30mins buffed off and Z6 wipe down. Second coat of Z2 applied left 30mins again and buffed off, final wipe down with Zaino Z8. Headlights and tail lights also machined. Time not on my side so all trim, glass, arches and tyres were not dressed but sunshine was too good not to get pictures. Only finished pics i'm afraid due to time but a couple of the snow foam for fun, Enjoy...

looking good

as for tyres i don't have this problem myself, got goodyear f1 gds3's on the front for about 2 years now and still over 4mm of tread and back tyres have been on about 3 years now and still good

Looks fantastic - excellent example. [B)]

How long from start to finish did it take to do all that (processes described in opening Post)!
Nice to have all that time to pamper the car like that!

Wouldnt trust myself to put a polishing machine to my cars paintwork - unless I was in the trade. :)

good work m8. looking to get a da when money allows. was also worried myself about using one. but i think im gana have to take a go at it cant be that hard. as polishing by hand is! as the leon is bigger then all the old cars lol

is your car a diesel? as i see one the other day with them exhaust tips? cheers

Blimey! Don't know why it is, don't buy cheap tyres, got 8.5k out of bridgestone re050a, 7k out of eagle F1's and 8k out of Avin ZV5's - however I don't rate these just thought I'd try them so they've had an easier life, going back to bridgestones. The rears not a problem just the fronts wear quickly, all even so no tracking problem. Don't accelerate fast or brake heavy, maybe I just carry a bit more speed through the bends (dam the pursuit training!)

From start to finish I'd say about 25hours. Done over two days. I had a good friend help me out with it on some stages. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I even took the tail lights out to clean round them etc. Few months back took all the wheels off and did arches and wheels front and back and polished the back box up. I've even polished under the doors and took the rubber seals of cleaned them and protected them, it's never ending, what's that you say OCD....

What power are you throwing out after the remap?

I find mines good enough on tyres but she's standard.

not had it on a rolling road so not sure for definate, its stage 1 revo which i believe is around 190bhp and 290-295lbft but i've also got cat back exhaust and running a cone filter currently as well

I'd say you're over the 190 brake so. God you must have the torque to move mountains! No probs with the clutch slipping? You're leaving Honda's in the dust so!

the clutch does slip and would need to be replaced, however i plan on a new car in the next few months so will probably will just turn the map off and put the standard airbox before trading her in for a new motor. i just manage the power delivery really, as long as you don't put your foot down around 2k is generally fine

its quick i can tell you that, pulls pretty much to 4.5krpm and nice clouds of smoke if i put my foot down but just not had it on the rollers and not sure if i will now either

its ironic you mention honda's as my housemate just bought an 06 plate civic 2.2cdti sport, engine spec is not bad but needs an extra 0.3L to get less bhp and similar torque to the pd150 in standard form. may have to wipe the smile off his face at some point ;)
