Both are 150 bhp, look very similar to me...(please forgive me if Im wrong Vectra driver) and the interiors look to be the same....so.......

what is the difference between these two models? I have checked with Confused.com and both seem to be in the same price group for insurance as far as price is concerned.

Can anyone enlighten me, sorry if this has been asked before, I did search but didnt come up with anything after 5 pages so gave up.....

Your answers will help me decide which one I buy, if I do decide to get the Mk1 over the Mk2

Thanks in advance

the cupra has brembo brakes up front, whereas the FR+ has std calipers.. one of the little differences I have noticed

actually the same car expect cosmetic changes. the Cupra R has brembo the cupra TDi has the same as the FR just a marketing thing to sell more. through 150bhp in the leon calling it a cupra was silly imo, and so was putting on LCR bumpers,

FR and Cupra are the same car. There may have been one or two cosmetic changes - like the colour of the wing mirrors - but they are the same car.

Seat changed the naming of their cars ready for the new, MK2 Leon as they have now ditched the Cupra R name. For the MK2, Cupra = Old Cupra R and FR = Old Cupra.

So whichever one you go for, you're getting the same car :)

(edit) Also, no Cupra or FR came with Brembo brakes... that was the petrol Cupra R only. And the FR+ has the Cupra R body kit and 17" versions of the Cupra R wheels.

Hi

Welcome fellow Vectra Person. I have just sold my Vectra GSi and got and FR+ 150. I am gessing you are asking about the TDI range.

The cupra was the first to come out and then they made the FR+ for a short time The fr+ came with the LCR bumbers and LCR 17 Wheels (Yes i know the LCR has 18 but the look similar)

The cupra and the FR+ have same brakes and suspension

Steve

DEAR

cupra - 6 disc changer
FR - single slot

Cupra- 17 split 5 spoke wheels
FR - Different style

Cupra- Slightly darker grey with littler square pattern
FR- lighter grey with more style square pattern

Cupra - body colour mirrors
FR- Silver

Cupra- Badge on boot
FR - Badge on wings

though 150bhp in the leon calling it a cupra was silly imo, and so was putting on LCR bumpers,

Why...?
What was wrong with a TDI (pd150) getting the Cupra badge? Surely this would have been a class leading diesel engine at the time, and a stonking good engine IMO.
So you saying the new MK2 FR TDI is silly too as it only has 170bhp?

Also, no reason why selling a few FR+'s was a bad idea, actually probably a good idea from SEATs p.o.v as they are quite sought after now....

cheers for your answers, so it really just a choice of where I want my badges then... the wheels I will probably change depending on what style are on the car already, the stereo I will more than likely upgrade and the interior well, I think I will probably leave that alone as it looks smart enough.

probly not as deep as yours fester LOL, yeah but you right tho, at some point the majority of people change those things anyway,

done a few things to my vec, but TBH the 2L ecotec engine, reliable as it is, isnt very responsive to mods :(, one of the reasons I am getting rid of her, only had her 1 1/2 years.

Want a diesel and fell in love with the Leon when I went to look for a car for my wife, now Im trying to persuade her to get it before I go to Iraq but it will only sit for 6 months whilst Im there, so might as well save teh money and see how much I got when I get back. May just get the new FR if she doesnt replace the furniture again :(

You have the right idea, you just never know what prices will do when you're away and there's no point doing it before you go just to have it sat on the drive .... good idea to leave it till you get back and see what's what then :)

Well i took the view that i might as well do it all up front and spend 2 years driving and enjoying it than 2 years playing with it and then flogging it just as i finished it :)
very true m8, all i need is interior coilovers and a few bits of handling stuff, ill keep it for a few year i think but when its finished i wouldnt mind keeping it and having somthing like a weekend toy

I'd wait and get it when you're back, let somebody else take the depreciation hit ;)

Good luck in Iraq by the way!

You will notic the differance between the 2.0lt veccy and the Leon. i would have throught by the time you get back you should be able to get the FR+ and a sensible price

thanks again all, I think I will take them both for a test drive at the weekend, our local dealer has them both sat on the forecourt.

I would leave it aswell mate. I how much you miss things when your away on tour let alone knowing you have a new car at home you cant drive. I had a LEON CUPRA TDI fantastic car now have a IBIZA CUPRA TDI red would fully recommend both.(and better than a new front and dining room).
