Same issue with 1055's for me, but as my original discs only lasted 16K & two sets of OE pads, (no scoring), I wasn't worried about it, I have a spare set of 1055's which will still go on when required.

just to put my comments on this thread. I got the 45,s and they have indeed f***ed my discs well and truly. There stoppoing power ain,t as good as oe and i am not happy at all that i am going to have to shell out for new discs.
Quattroman - you worked your ass off to get this deal and my comments are in no way reflected towards you.
Maybe a group buy on the AP 330 conversion could bring the price down to a more acceptable level, otherwise its oe for me again

as for the GB on the AP 330 conversion... sounds like a plan to me!
Theses are the AP discs and there £540 in delivery. I did ask about discounts when i bought them but i was told they dont have enough margin on them. Another option is the tarox that RobDon ran, they will only order them if they get 10 orders or so.
i got brembo cross-drilled direct replacement discs from the TT shop/TTS roadsport (same place) in bedford. i was told that brembo actually list the standard solid discs and the cross-drilled ones for the same price. i think i paid about £250 including the dreaded VAT and i'm really happy with them.

My Cupra R is 4 years old and only done 23K. Well I had the car serviced and MOT and it failed.
Rear Indicator bulb is white instead of orange. Passenger side front track rod end has excessive play. Rear wiper motor needs replacing as the jet is spinning with the wiper and my Graffer 1045 Pads are leaving groves in the disk and causing them to warp.
Well I have a Seat Warrenty so the track rod and the motor are covered I think. Anyway the rar indicator is showing orange but the centre of the bulb is only white but I will just replace them.
Anyway the brakes are the big issue. I tried to save money 6 months ago by buying Graffer 1045 pads for the front. And soon I noticed groves on the disk. I don't do many miles and drive very slowly but now the disk is slightly warp but both disk have many grovees due to these poor quality brake pads.
Well I don't know what to do, buy aftermaket pads and disk and hope that this problem does not re-occur which could waste more money or to just pay Seat the £400 for the OEM parts?
Anyway DO NOT BUY GRAFFER BRAKES.

Just seeing all these posts about the Galfer pads and I'm getting the same scoring on my 2nd set of 1045, the 1st set was with new dices also (seat brembo's) and now there really scored
I've probably coverd 20k with 2 sets, with one track day.. had the brakes smoking on that day thou dunno if that was the pads are just me pushing to hard, but I didn't over do it (I think)..

As told to me by Pagid Racing Pad manufacturer.
If you overheat a brake pad you can burn off the binder in their compound, and daft as it sounds this binder helps "lube" the surface for better surface contact. Competition pads (the likes of carbon metallic) effectively create a transfer layer on the disk, so brake pad material is pressing against brake pad material, and stopping is immence.
If you cook the binder on regular pads, track days, hard fast road etc, you will be left with an ineffective lube, and the "gritty" bits of the pad will now start to wear disks far more rapidly.
I have seen this on my own ibiza when I ran factory galfer pads (std ibiza r) and used them on track. Disk wear was very much accelerated and the pads turned very abrasive. Used x2 sets of OE pads on a track day at Cadwell, and a set of disks also by the end of the day. Used pads better suited to the abuse ever since.
(Performance Friction PF01, and DS2500 and DS3000)-dust levels vary between them.

Hi all,
Sorry havnt been around for a while,
just looking at all the unhapppy peoples threads regarding Galfer Pads.
I think we have put up with enough of this now and its time to collectively do something about it.
My Galfer two piece discs are very scored now aswell and I think its time to get on the phone to Leda and get this sorted.
I have emailed Beverly Miles (Managing Director at Leda Suspension-Sole uk importers of Galfer products) and have still had no response from her.
If we can collectively partition Galfer by sending me all your dodgy disc photos I will then make the complaint to Galfer Spain direct as Leda do not seem interested and as for Matt at Leda / Galfer -he is just fobbing us off.

HI, I have just registered so I can keep up to date with what happening and who is sayig what.
Firstly an email was sent to Bob Sandover within 24 hours or recieving his. Galfer in Spain have been advised of the potential problem and are ready to recieve pads and discs to analyse and discover where the issue orginiates.
There are a few points regarding the make up of brakes that are maybe not understood by forum members that are leading them to make assumptions.
1045, 1055 and 1065 pads will all have a very similar level of abraisive wear on a disc as the differetiation factor is the ablity to operate at higher temoeratures rather than provide a massive increase in pad grip on the disc. If the pad grip was excessive then it would make slowing down very unstable. Its only when you get to very specialist race and WRC spec materials that they have a serious increase in the friction co-efficent.
In short, until we have examples of the suspect pads and discs to send back to Galfer for lab testing its impposible to make any forward progress.
I object to the claim that we (in particular me) has been "fobbing" anyone off as thats something that just hasn't happened.
It is true that we have a large number of road and competition cars in the UK running on all grades of Galfer pad materials and following SEAT owners concerns we have made enquiries and there are no issues. We run Galfer pads on std spec MGR discs in our own fleet of GRN rally cars and again we have had no issues.
We are concerned that some people feel that there is an issue with Galfer pads, we can also confirm that Galfer Industries in Spain are also concerned and when samples are made available they will be tested thoroughly in the lab.
I am quite prepared to help resolve any issues people have provided that people are reasonable with us in their comments and dealings.
Technically any issues should be raised with the supplier, in this case Bob Sandover, however if anyone wants to speak directly with me then I am more than happy. After Rally GB I will be away in Italy until w/c 11th DEC, my office number is 0870 777 6789 or you can email at [email protected]
