Front right of car 'clunking' / Seat sport suspension kit

Now sometimes I swear my car is psychic, I was looking at suspension kits the other day, I got in the car, reversed out the drive, and as I went to turn the steering wheel I heard a 'clunk' type sound from the front right wheel area.

I haven't had too much chance between then and now to drive over uneven roads and see if the noise is repeated but noticed it again parking up at work this morning, it seems to be when turning the steering wheel to the left.

In fairness, it's more likely to be a wheel bearing would you agree?

This happened both times on LEVEL ground - the best sound I can explain it with, is the sound of a plastic bottle being crushed when it still has air in it.

But if thats the case i'd rather just swap the suspension at the same time, as my car sits higher than a tractor, and would probably be worth doing the other bearing at the same time.
Im quite tempted to get the SEAT Sport -20mm kit (Bilstein shocks & Eibach Springs) as I can get it quite cheap - and it seems a good kit.

Doesn't seem too many people have it though - when searching i've found a lot of reviews of coilovers, and other suspension kits...

My other option is a Jamex set of coilovers for circa £240... (Can get the SEAT sport kit for £200)

Whichever way I look at it, this is my FMIC savings  ah well

i have to agree with jamie a wheel bearing will make a fairly loud humming noise around 50-70mph (in my experiance) a knocking noise when turning would lead me to think joints etc.

It's probably just the springs moving in their seats. Mine did this from day one (brand new car) back in 2001. Even when I changed the suspension to the SEAT Sport kit some time ago, it made no difference to the knocking sound (by the way, the SEAT Sport kit is good, much better than standard but it won't lower your car 20mm, more like 10-15mm max).

With regards to the knocking, I think it's just something you have to put up with on these cars.

It will be the top mount bearings mate, I did mine when replacing the front shocks £50 from the dealers for the top mount and bearings (two seperate parts)

Damo> That could explain why I sometimes hear it from the back as well, ah thats fair enough! :)
The SEAT Sport kit would cost me £150 now from a dealer, but not sure if 15-20mm is enough... I have the LCR Splitter so don't want to sit too low, but I do love the look of a really low car! When I look at pics of -30mm it doesn't look amazingly low to me, but I think realistically thats the safest height to lower too with the roads round here... (I already scrape the front in multi storey car parks coming down the slopes!) and thats standard height as far as im aware. (On 17"s).

Lemonslap > I will replace them when I get the new suspension kit, appreciate that, I've spilt paint on my top mounts so it will be nice to replace them
