well... what i presume youre thinking of doing is takeing the old seat off and fitting the new bucket or whatever it is to the old subframe. In which case youll be sat with your head against the roof. You can buy ibiza or polo specific ones (both the same) and theyre about the right height. I made my own and fitted the seats on 2 pieces of 1'' box section bolted to the floor, with the runners on top. The bottom of the seat is about 1.5'' off the floor where with the old subframes the bottom of the seat will be at least 4''
: EDIT : 70 pound a pair... can make them for much cheaper but then you have to fabricate an inner seat belt mounting point also. these come with one already.
Easiest option is to go with what ive linked to below
Take your original seat out, theres one bolt at the front and then it just slides out.
then put your new seat on the floor and sit on it, then put stuff under it to see how high it needs to be... then look how high the subframe on your original seat is...
by all means have a go, a seat from a breakers wont be any more than a tenner anyway if it goes wrong
i just thought i would say all your seat wisdom was right, my mate had a seat in his back garden and let me have it so i took it apart, took a grinder to it but it was still too high the only problem i had was the sea was in the way of 5th gear, so if i order the subframes off of ebay will that cure the problem????
without seeing the seat or anything id say so yes... ive fitted a set of buckets in a polo with those subframes, that was easy enough no issues, and my custom subframes and again no issues there
