Too much of a compromise on the boot space I am afraid plus it will blow the budget for sure! But yes you are right on the shirt trips.

But in my case I may not need to fill up more than once a month which is what I do now anyway.

( I am trying to sell it to myself here!)

Ah, yes, forgot about the boot space.

In my country e-hybrid is cheaper than a 310PS version.

Yes weird that. I think the e-hybrid is just slightly over the VZ2 trim.but it takes it over £40K which significantly increases the tax in the UK and hence the lease for the same parameters is more expensive by a margin.

But you will probably save all that in fuel...swings and roundabouts!!

Plus the boot space...

I generally only use it for small trips. My commute to work is 4-5 miles round trip! Sometimes that's all I will do in a day and bits and bats during the week and a day out somewhere at the weekend. I generally put in about £90 a month of super unleaded. I wish my commute was longer and with working in a school there is plenty of time off to use it a bit more adventurously for further days out/ weekends away. I'm not one of these that is galavanting all over the place for work and up and down motorways etc although I do wish I had a distance that required a spirited drive to work each day.

Thanks @Ricknffc

I can't remember if it was you or another forum member but it turns out the 1.5 and the 2.0 engines may actually be similar in fuel consumption ...based on a few statements here and elsewhere.

I don't know how to explain this but I am guessing the bigger engine can push the car around with less revs than then smaller engine?

£90 a month is a bit much and I don't think I will hit that much as we have a second diesel smaller car that can happily take some.of the errands. Plus it's on HP so no mileage limit there!!

Thanks for the input.

Much appreciated.

Yeah my missus has a mini but I think it's self explanatory why we all jump in the Formentor whenever we are going somewhere together. On the other hand I'm sure some people on here spend a hell of a lot more monthly on fuel.

Good luck if you end up swapping, I think the seed has already been planted now.. what you going to do if a VZ2 comes up next to you at the lights? Ha. Do what's right for you mate.

Last one on this I promise as I don't want to o come across like I'm driving my VZ2 like a boring fucker ha but find it interesting and just wanted to see what could be done. So with my 1 year old and wife in car, pram, shopping and me (15 stone) I did 42 miles at just over 45mpg. And apparently used 5 miles worth of petrol range as it said 250 range when got in this morning.
Were you driving 50mph? Try to drive like this all the time, even on motorway. Awfully boring.

If someone thinks of changing order from V to VZ, don't. Low fuel consumption can only be achieved with very careful driving. Any decent run with roundabouts and accelaration in VZ model, means 26-30mpg.

City driving and short trips will have poor mpg. I usually do long trips, hardly drive less than 20 miles in one go, only when going to gardening store or Screwfix. Everything else is min. 40 miles up to hundred miles.

I don't know how much I spend on petrol per month, I just buy it. But I do look for cheap petrol stations on my way.

Yeah it was 80% driving steadily between 45-50mph on A roads. 20% getting out of town to get to A roads. Agreed changing from a V to a VZ shouldn't be on the basis that your going to get good fuel consumption because like you say the majority of your time you aren't and it's not the car for you if that's essentially what you want. I just wanted to show that it is possible for those who do need to do a bit of cautious driving that it's possible to get a decent return.

Thanks @Ricknffc and thank you @Agnes.Surrey

In a way you are both right and it all depends on personal preference. I have known people with cars that never go above 10mpg and I lived in America for two years where 30mpg was considered brilliant...but then again petrol was dirt cheap there...something like 20p a litre at the time!

For me fuel consumption is important enough along with boot space and looks/design.

After sleeping on it...might just stay with the V2 as if we are realistic...it's probably all one will need. I may just add the panoramic roof on it and stop there!!

Will be keen to hear on any V2 mpg numbers!

Have you tested the boot space?
It doesn’t have a massive boot!

Yeah if boot space is a big part of what you want then it's not massive. 450l for V and 420l for VZ, hybrid even smaller around 390l I think. Again depends what your putting in it.

I feel bad for mentioning it, but I am currently at 19 MPG over 1000 miles. Majority of those are very short city trips with plenty of red lights plus I'm still exploring the car, with a lot of hard acceleration runs and spirited driving, I drive it in S and usually Cupra mode so the revs are high. I am sure you could get 30 MPG or 35 MPG if you really took it easy but then that is not why I bought a 310 HP car.

I'm sure 1.5 TSI has better MPG if you drive it in a similar fashion but much better MPG if the cars are driven hard.

You are using car in proper way :) I use it for motoway driving, hence the good mpg. I think, one of my choice criteria was stupid: "must be able to go up Stelvio Pass in fashionable manner". Realistically, I doubt it will see any mountain pass and I could have gone for cheapest lease car to drive me form A to B.

My longterm from 2000 miles is 36.2mpg.

Sorry team...busy day at the office!!

We did not test the boot but we did see the car yesterday and for the occasional week away it will be fine. We can always use the 60/40 split and squeeze the kids together in the 60 part for that extra space next to them.

I feel looking at the other responses from @Peyton and @Agnes.Surrey i think the sensible thing for me will be to go for the V2 as it will annoy me if I have to fill up constantly. I really need to stop annoying you all with my indecision. Unless the dealer can give me a price that beats the V2 plus sunroof by at least £20 a month then I will probably stick with the V2 as it has everything I need and more.

Just spoke to the dealer and there is no way we can meet my budget for the VZ2 without putting an insanely large deposit which defeate the purpose.

To add to that, turns out Cupra and others in the VAG are putting up leases by £50 a month to ...reduce demand ( or maybe cash in?) as the semiconductor crisis has hit them hard on this very popular car... especially in the VZ2 trim. Apparently V2s are not so affected.

I did see a similar post on Facebook over the weekend but I figured it was too wild to be true but he confirmed the same story!!

Crazy times we live in!

Stick with the V2 mate and be happy with your purchase. Gona be a great car for you anyway that you will thoroughly enjoy. If our paths ever meet I will let you have 15 mins in the VZ2 ha. Did you say what spec your getting it in?

Hi @Ricknffc it's a V2 in white with the added Safety pack XL which comes as standard in your VZ2.

Petrol blue seats as well. I will probably order the sunroof if I can but it would appear since my original order went through the prices have changed as per my post earlier and it might be I may not be able to amend.

At least decision is made for me. I did not want to steer too far away from the £300 a month over 3 years and the VZ2 would require a deposit of almost £4500 to make that work and I am just not willing to make that happen.

The V2 will be fine with a deposit of about £2k and payment well below the £300 for 3 years and 8K miles.

Will save my pennies for the Tavascan!!

Funny you should say that, I just checked leasing deals again, and the deal I got has now gone up by £20 a month. Glad I ordered when I did :)
