Spoke a guy at our local garage and explained my traction control fault coming up on my Obd as
G85 Steering Angle sensor

He then mentioned it could be a duff Abs sensor as this controls the Traction Control?

Would vagcom give a bit more of an indication or would it need a garage based diagnostic system

What fault code are you seeing? Check the Ross-Tech Wiki for VAG-specific interpretations.

I have to guess that by "abs sensor" you mean one of the sensors on each wheel that detects wheel rotation speed. These are fundamental to the ABS system, which also contains the code controlling TCS, EDL, ESP, and all the other alphabet soup associated with keeping the tyres from slipping. A faulty wheel sensor would not generate a code saying that the Steering Angle Sensor was faulty.

The G85 sensor is part of the ESP system.

Cool,The Esp light goes out when the engine is started,as does the Abs light
The only one that stays on is TC light and its spinning up when comes on boost

Its had new wishbones and tie rod ends, but no rec for any tracking done, and it does pull to the left slightly
Im aware it needs doing..

When I tapped the code into google search it came up G85 steering angle sensor, not sure of the exact digits

Need the code to be sure of where we're going, OBD codes sometimes have different or expanded meanings for VAG cars.

Does the steering wheel center properly when the car is going straight down the road? The steering angle sensor measures the angle of the steering wheel with respect to straight ahead, and assumes that the wheel is centered for straight ahead driving. If your recent work has resulted in the wheel being off-center, this is a strong candidate for the cause of your problem.

Thanx for your reply,i will get it 4wheel tracked and then try the code again...im sure ive wrote it down and put it in my serv history folder,Will check tonight

The wheel is slighly off centre at times and im thinking it could be down to this
The Code reader is a ebay one, said it was for vag cars

Will update when I get home..

Fault code 00778
In my book converts to G85 steering angle sensor

If you have any info I would be gratefull,Front end is starting to pee me off wheel spinning up
Defo need the TC back functioning

The Ross-Tech wiki shows lots of possible causes and further action for this code:

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00778

You'll need someone with VCDS to perform the checks and and resetting, if it's more than just the position of the wheel.

You don't have TCS, or rather not just TCS, you have ESP. Or at least you are fitted with ESP, but it is not working due to the G85 sensor fault.

I assume that just the ESP light is lit on the panel, and that the ABS light is still out. If both ESP and ABS lights are on then you have no ABS as well.

By meaning of ESP light you mean the TC symbol in the centre of the dash, triangle with a clockwise arrow around it

So it needs The Vagcom plugged in to check the steering angle degrees,How this has happened is beyond me
