Have trimmed the TIP, however still needs more taken off as there is a kink in the bottom, possibly another inch. Am currently looking to taking up AMD on their Superpro Polyurethane Bushes offer as they need replaing anywayand its a good excuse. Also had a play with the lights they seemed to be about 2 inchs too low. raised them up and i can now see where i am going makes a hell of a difference.

After the TIP popping off again. I went about remodelling the heat shield. After cutting a bit here and bending a bit there it is now about 2 inches lower with minimal kink in it, thus allowing the TIP end to sit where originally it wanted. Hopefully that should be it, may need to move the bottom jubilee clip to the end but it may hold where it is. Such a relief and I feel that it may be sorted. :D
Next job on the cards is the bushes. Hopefully it will sort the ride out a little, making it sturdier and may stop some of the rattles and bangs. Does not help that the roads round my way are like the roads to Mordor and on this basis will be looking to sort out the suspension. What does everybody recommend? I am completely in the dark with this. I would like it a bit lower and less bumpy.
Any ideas?

I wouldnt say "as much as it takes" but enough to get a good set. Say around £300-£400 something like that. maybe a little more if need be.

Probably worth posting in the DPM Performance section, Damian knows a lot about different brands of suspension and he never seems to push folk to spend more than they need.

EDIT - meant to say, nice motor, like this a lot :)

Decided to drive to work today and on a different route my MPG went up to 36.7? Normally I struggle to get 30. Could this be due to the tip having less of a kink or my now carful driving?

Probably a combination of things - different route and careful driving mostly. The TIP shouldn't really affect MPG as the car will adjust fuelling to suit how much air it's getting in. If it wasn't attached to the adaptor right (i.e. leaking some air) then the MAF readings would be out but so long as it's fastened right you're fine.

Is the new route much longer? Faster/less congested roads?

Its basiclly a back route to Twells bout 25 -30miles. country lanes, steady speed of 45- 50 mph in fith. didnt really give it any stick at all.

There you go then, 50 - 55 in 5th is right in the sweet spot for mpg for these cars. If you'd kept going a few miles more it would have kept climbing, I'd bet. I've seen just over 39 on a long cruise at 50 - 60 mph before.

Found that the tip had moved very slightly this weekend and that the jubilee clip wasn’t as square on as first thought. Reattached it and think it is ok. I feel that its nearly sorted may even take a little more off the MAF end, must have cut nearly 2.5 inches off now.

Fingers crossed that's it this time mate, you must have refitted yours at least as many times as me now :)

AP's or Weitec's for the money mate. I have AP's and love them. Done very well for nearly 2 years now.

Car is coming along nicely mate, good work.

Thanks, I am gettiing fed up with the car shaking averything loose when I drive down a country lane, which I do most of the time. somebody local to me said he has the AP coilovers and they are fine on the same sort of roads. Think this is the way to go.

Finally the TIP does not move! Have not used the car too much over the last couple of weeks but have driven around enough for it to move if it was going to. Now one of my HIDs has packed up. Will hopefully be getting it replaced next week after the chap I bought them off told me to swap them about to see if it’s the bulb or ballast. However I am not the only person to have had this problem.

Good news on the TIP mate. I was up at my folks place at the weekend, 220 mile drive, checked it when I arrived and it was still fitted nice. :)
