Have a look at the DVLA website, and they will explain, that if the text used, isnt the standard text then its illegal. Quite simple really.

So if you have german plates, with the same german style text, then its illegal.

But saying that, you may not get into trouble.

My text is illegal, but i've only been pulled once.

If you dont want to risk it, get legal plates.

forbz you're right.
the font must be equi-distant the whole way round the letter. therefore, no bulges, italics, or accents at the tips.

the trouble with it being legal or not, is the same debate as "blue" headlights and front LED's. There are so many out there, and it's only illegal when you get caught. By the time you've been given a bollocking, a 7 day producer, and a 14 day order to replace them. 20 other offenders have driven by and got away with it. this being an injustice means you cannot be given a spot fine or endorsement.

ILLEGAL NUMBER PLATES WILL NOT BE PICKED UP BY ANPR's
THIS IS AN OFFENCE AND YOU MAY RECEIVE NOTICE IN THE POST WITH A SPOT FINE OR EVEN PROSECUTION

Hmm, blue lights are illegal on any vehicle other than an emergency service vehicle, whether a flashing blue tit, or blue neons for example (which are illegal anyway)

Blue tinted lights, as long as they have the E or kite mark, are ok.

And they are always illegal, but its whether you get pulled over for it, believe it or not, not all cops are cocks!

Was at a local meet with my mates last year and some lassy had those changing colour leds...go from green to blue to red to yellow to purple and white.....

she got done by the coppers and he said it was because of the red......not the other colours....as it made her front end look like her rear (oooww errr)
