Grinding noise on front

Hi
Ive developed a nasty grinding noise on the front O/s of my Leon when I brake and it judders slightly which I can feel through the pedal. The noise/judder stays after I release pressure off the brake for a few seconds then its gone.
Any ideas?
I thought if it was the brakes a warning light would show up?

Also, theres rust mixed in with the brake dust on the alloy on the O/s.

Might be that your brake pad is a little low or there is none left best to check it, if this is the cause you will have nasty grooves on the disk

How come its only on the one side? (Sorry not very good on the mechanical side of things)

i am not sure which cars had the brake pad warning fitted, or if pads with out the warning wires have been fitted then that would explain no light.

it could be that the one side just worn quicker than the other.

If its not the brake pads, which you should check, it could be a stone or summat caught between the pads and the disc. If it is a stone and your not sure about removing the pads then some heavy braking should sort it out

I would say its the pads/discs to mate as mine was making the same noise from the rears and I changed pads & discs and this stoped it. When I removed the pld ones there was still a good 5-6mm left on the pads but there was still grooves/scratches on both the discs and pads.

Looks like the pads / discs then. I would have thought a Leon Fr would have had some sort of warning light? No warning light for the brakes but at least It lets me know when my washer bottle is low!
