I've just fitted a rsn510 into my 07 plate leon fr had clock shift issue and phone button on the steering wheel wouldn't work ,got a can gateway from eBay version 7n and now have no clock shift and phone buttons all work .my original can gateway was 1k hope that helps anyone .

RNS510 OEM style unit

Just bought an RNS510 STYLE HD DVD GPS SAT NAV from a guy on Ebay. £250 and the fascia £22 from the Seat main dealer.
The Vendor claims the GPS antena on the unit is good enough you can just push it up behind the dash and it will still grab 9 sats with no problems.
I will let you know how this goes as if it is the case it is a bargin and far less work.

I fitted an RNS510 to my Altea, and managed to source a roof GPS/aerial combo on eBay. It works perfectly, but swapping the aerial and rooting the cable was a PITA.

I have since added the same stereo to my Caddy van, but this time just put a cheap GPS aerial under the top pocket on the dash, close to the screen and as far forward as I could. After the initial calibration while driving around, it works well, and usually shows around 7 sats. However, I have on a few occasions found it thinks I'm in an ajacent field, or on an adjacent road. Not enough to bother me, and it does quickly work it self out.

I had to code both with vag com to get steering wheel mic and phone buttons working. I also enabled "optical park assist" which gives the reversing graphics with the reversing sensors. That's not even an option on a SEAT unless you have front sensors too, but enabling it in the radio coding worked, and my local dealer was impressed, lol.

the key word in this discription is 'STYLE' im always wary of clones , copies or what ever you want to call them

We'll find out next week I guess. like you I am sceptical but he does have a mostly positive feedback over 6 months so I am hopeful they are not all his mates. ONe said it didn't work but got a replacement sent so fingers crossed

New rather than second hand for a plus but not VAG for a minus. I'll take one for the team if it's a crock of crap and make sure everyone knows!

I was thinking to purchase an android sat nav that would maintain all the functionality of the original sat nav I have in my Cupra but with the benefit of what the android system will provide. If you or anyone reading this can provide advice on this if would be appreciated. I have looked at ones in Ebay but having one installed in my girlfriend's Fiesta that never worked properly I am once bitten.

For what iits worth I planted an A-Sure in car DVD/CD/Radio Sat Nav with USB and SD card connection in my Seat Freetrack 2013. I bought it off eBay it dropped in OK and was plug and play no problem steering controls,climate control, USB and rear monitor worked OK. On start up the logo can be changed to Seat and the indicator lights are red so it all looks the part for £240. Also, the maps Igo can be updated free off the internet I have just done mine. Seat seems to charge a fortune for an upgrade I can also add the latest radar alerts once a month. My reversing camera also connects to the unit. The only con is radio reception but I think this is down to my aerial. I have had this A-Sure unit 18 months and without pushing my luck everything is a OK. Aggie

There may be a setting on the advanced settings for tweeking the radio sensitivity, there is on mine but I have no idea of the brand, just "OEM style unit"

Well, fitted it today on my 56 plate 2007 Leon FR. Everything worked straight out of the box. The seller has sold over 150 and I can't find a negative feedback. Also when I phoned him about: Where to put the sat antena and again today when SHED loads of orange lights came on the dash after I plugged it in; he had the answers (drive it and they all clear - something to do with the battery being off?). I am still sorting out if the Seat onboard Blutooth will intergrate with the head unit, I will update this later but I am very satisfied and will post photos if people are interested. Read on if you are thinking of fitting one.

Before you start: BUY A SET OF TRIM TOOLS, Fascia plate, 4xNo.8 U nuts and 4 x 3/4" self tappers to match. And then invite a small friend over to help.
1.Fit the U nuts on the holes BEFORE getting the unit nearly fitted. They are Number 8's, not 8mm and 3/4" self tappers worked fine.
2. The GPS fitted nicely on top of the air inlet on the left at the front of the dash and seems to be working fine. See SEAT LEON 1P MK2 - Stereo / Radio / Climate Control Heater Panel Removal on Youtube for an very informative video from Select Vehicle Spares on how the get the panel off.
3. There is an adapter for the plug, the unit does not have a block on the back. There is room for it all if you push the block out the back and over the top of the housing for the head unit. That way you don't have to cut the back out of the fitted plastic. It's a bit of a fiddle and the holes are small and akward to get to, hence the small friend.
4. You can run the USB, video in, DTV out of the left side of the hole for the head unit and pick them up again in the right hand side of the passenger footwell. I ran mine in case I wanted them for the future and then tucked them back up out of sight. Your small friend with small hands might be useful here again. I am officially a controtionist now.

I bought the Fascia plate from my local Seat dealer. It cost £20 but is a good colour match. The part number is 1P1858071A N87 Where N87 is the colour code for my interior. I got the code by Phoning the garage and giving them my registration number. They couldn't get the Fascia part code though as my car came with the stock head unit so would not generate the number. However the amazing parts catalogue that can be found by searching on here was easy to follow. It didn't need any extra clips as some have found on here.

I forgot to put the screws back in the air control panel so I now have 2 spares and I am not taking it all out again :D

This info maybe elsewhere on the forum, but I've sorted out the normal AUX socket (simple plug with plastic cover in the console between the front seats) connection on my MFD3, with the help of NickP, and it seems appropriate to record it on this thread.

On the original Seat CD/Radio the AUX cables (3 off - black earth, white and purple Left & Right feeds - can't remember which was which) were connected to the CD earth/L/R pins at the back of the unit, as identified from the pin out sticker on the back of CD/Radio unit.

For the MFD3 these three cables need to be moved to the respective AUX pins as identified on the pin out sticker on the back of the RNS510. Same blue connector block, just different pins - in fact the black earth pin is already in the correct position as the CD earth on the CD/Radio unit is now the AUX earth on the MFD3. Threrfore only the L & R feeds need to be moved to new pins, so move the L feed to the AUX L pin and the R feed to the AUX R pin, as identified on the RNS510 sticker.

I don't have a diagram of these pin confirgurations, but if you compare the two pin out stickers it will all be clear.

To move the cable pins around in the blue connector block firstly release the blue connector from the main quad block connector then remove the outer blue sleeve by lifting the retaining tab on the side (a fingernail will do the job) and sliding the sleeve away from the black connector block beneath. Then select the cable pin you want to remove from the black block and press down gently (with a small screwdriver or ballpoint pen) on the lower of the two silver recesses at the pin position, and it should just unclip and slide out from the connector block. Move the pin to the new position on the block and slide down until it clicks home securely.

Then reassemble the blue connector and quad lock block and refit to the RNS510. The AUX socket between the seats should now be back to good sound quality at a normal volume level.

So I can get hold of a MFD2 for £50 which was in a Seat Leon. I currently have a Seat Altea 12 plate with an RCD310 fitted. Easy swap over or not?

Bit of a long shot here but has anyone tried fitting an RNSE Mk2 into a 1P Leon? My Leon currently has an MFD-2 but I also have an RNSE in my A4 which I will be removing before I sell it

There is a small "box" under the RNS unit that houses the SD card reader, the car has a "step" (for want of a better word) of plastic at the back of the space for the unit. The bottom rear edge of the radio sits on this "step". You need to cut the centre of this plastic step. Should be obvious when you look in. You may also need to cut away the side where the plug fits to the unit. They are both small bits of plastic, no big job.

Hello people, I have recently purchased a 2016 vw rsn510 for my 2008 seat leon 1.4 tsi. I have cut the tap out and fits perfectly howerver there a a few issues.

1) The steering wheel controls for the volume and the skip no longer work. Is there a fix?

2) There is a Mic function, is there a way to use the default seat one without ruining the hands free?

3) the aux function doesnt work. Do i have to repin the wire for it?

1. If your using a harness adapter to connect the stereo to the car then steering wheel controls wont work and if not then maybe you need to get it coded using vag com

2. I dont think you can been trying to do it on mine

3.the aux function does not work for me either that is something i need help with too
