Handbrake sensor cable

Hi guys, i'm going to attempt to connect my new headunit to my car today but i have to connect it to the parking brake cable to watch videos. any ideas how to get to get to the cable for this?

just wire the handbrake wire to the earth and the screen will work all the time

apparently that doesnt work with my headunit (mines the pioneer avh-p3100dvd) i can give it a try though

apparently a relay switch may be the only was without connecting it to the handbreak

well the handbrake link is normally just a earth. i cant see it being any more advance then that tbh as the hand brake switch only has a power and earth
