The other idea is to strip the connector so you just get the bare wiring, and wire that into the wiring at the back of the cig lighter itself. Cut the wiring, crimp it together with the cig light wiring and job done :)

which wiring? have to be carful NOT to bypass the usb to cig lighter unit as this acts as transformer.

I doubt that will work, as the actual unit the USB lead plugs into (the male ciggie ligher thingy), transforms the 12v supply, to the 5v the USB lead uses.

Not bothered about mutilating the cable, i have plenty to use......

G60jet has it perfect! Ciggy socket 99p at Maplins! Did mine over a year ago, when RA compact first came out! Also if you get Male n female 2.5mm plug n socket you can extend laser detector lead so RA can sit right of dials with laser in center, mine sits nicely velcro'd on top of SmartNav antenna!

Fantastic !!

Do I need to fuse the wire into new ciggie socket?

Should I also disconnect battery when I do this ?

All I need now is a guide to wire under dash lol (dont forget, complete novice to these sort of things !!)

Cheers again (if anyone does have a guide, would be grateful if you could send it on.....)

I meant the ciggy lighter adaptor that the USB lead plugs in to. Strip that and you can hard wire if into the existing cig lighter wiring and then plug the USB lead into that, so it can still be removed.

I fitted a spare cig lighter behind the dash when hard wiring our lasses Talex lite in.

Don't cut of the adapter!!

NB the Talex lite are brill on ebay with 3 yrs subscription for less than £100!

No false alarms, simple to use and update, spot on!!!
