Hi all, Iv'e just purchased a new head unit for my Ibiza. It's a Sony CDX GT26, quite nice i thought.
Anyway, got it plugged in and nothing happened. Had a glance at the instructions, n it mentions possibly having to change around the yellow and red wires in the harness,(continuous live and switchable live), Tried switching them, and when I did the unit made a noise, but still it won't switch on, no matter what buttons I press. :(
It might have something to do with the fact that the original cd player didn't switch on n off with the ignition, I dunno.
If anyone has any ideas, they'd be hugely appreciated. Thanks :D

1. have you checked the Fuse in the back of the headunit?

2. Some headunit needs to be wired to a live feed like that for the fag lighter

Yep I checked the fuse.

I've never heard of head units being wired to separate lives before. And I would imagine it should say something about that in the instructions :/

The fact it's getting power n not switching on is the bit that's baffling me.
Thanks for the reply.

I dont know if it applies to seat but i had a sony headunit in my corsa that got power, you heard the drive spinning but got no display or lights or anything. Had to wire it to the cig lighter andit worked perfectly.

Ah ok, so how did you go about wiring to the cigarette lighter?

you may need a switch live pulling from somewhere or if you look at the cables on the back you will have a male bullet and two female bullet connectors think there on the red and yellow switch them around and see if that works. All hesdunit need a live and a switch live that tells the headunit to come on.

Got it working :)
Turns out the switchable live was only getting 11.5 volts, which wasn't enough to get it working. i didn't fancy sourcing the cause of that, so I just bypassed the switch live and put both wires into the continuous live.
Does anyone know what would cause the switch live to only give us 11.5 volts, chaffed wire or something?

Thanks.
