Guys,

How important is it to keep the heat shield on the turbo to charge pipe hose?

I've just come in from 9 hours under the bonnet without food or water having now fitted THS TIP, upper boost hoses and as above Forge turbo to charge pipe hose. I also changed my 007 spring to the yellow once. :headhurt:

The problem is I'm finding it tricky to reattach the heat shield properly, I know its there for a reason but has anyone just left theirs off?

Went for a test drive and one of my boost hoses popped off! [:@]

Anyone else care to comment? Is the heat shield there to protect the hose in question or the surrounding components?

I'd have thought it is there to protect the hose itself because the heat generated by the exhaust is far greater than that created by the charge air?

I would re-attach this as it stops the surrounding area getting overly hot.
It gets very hot normally and being at the back not much air flow round it

OK, cheers guys will try to get it back on. Might have to take the charge pipe off again though. :(

Be carefull when you tighten the jubilee clip's on the vacuum hose's at the top of the charge pipe, I think I over tightend mine which split the smaller hose.

Ye cheers mate, had the whole thing in pieces yesterday so know my way round it pretty well now ;)

Hi, sorry to hijack this thread but I'm currently changing all the hoses and was wondering if anyone knew what type of hose I need to connect the charge pipe to the reirc valve? The other hose on the charge pipe is just 8mm vacuum hose I believe but not sure about the other one.
Was also going to replace the hose which connects the charge pipe to the turbo but was going to do that so I could remove the heat shield cloth round the hose but now I see people do not recommend this. Is it still worth getting this hose anyway?

The pipe from the charge pipe to the DV is 25mm, the turn's in it are to too tight to replace it with stright pipe, you will get kink's in it.

Forge already do a replacement for the pipe to the turbo

So the hose from the charge pipe to the DV cannot be replaced?
Would have liked to change this to a red silicone hose like the rest of my hoses.

What are the benefits of changing the turbo hose? If I am changing the rest of the hoses is it really worth while spending the extra £60 to change this hose as well?

Theres not an after market one made that I know of, and it will be a pig to do with stright pipe.

the hose that joins the charge pipe to the turbo is prone to crack and split, so yeah it would be good to change it

I dont know what it is ment to protect.
The forge one is made to cope with the heat better than the OE one.
