I then attacked it wil the key tono avail, (I even got the owners manual out) but even with the key turned an 8th of a tunr anti-clockwise the flap still feels like the boot is locked.... any one got any ideas? has this happened to you before??? i think it happend to the missues a while back but just went out and double cliked the remot and it worked fine i just thought she was being dozy!!! now its me its not working for its not so funny!! :cartman::help::help::help::help::help::help:

Thanks Nathwarr, just a quick question, any idaes how i get it open to take a look? as i can t get it open, i cant get at the screws to take the trim panel off!

pop the back seats down and take parcel shelf out from the back seats then there are two side flaps you may be able to take one of them off and reach your arm into the tailgate and manually push rod down to open the tailgate if not you may have to pull trim off and hope it doesnt break and just flexes and lets you in that way

good luck

I had this once after my parents had locked the boot with the key. If you haven't already, unlock the boot using the key and then unlock the car. This worked for me, but I guess you've probably tried this.

Of course, when I wanted to get in the boot it wasn't to put in a bag from Sainsbury's. Oh no. It was 0530 and I had ten days worth of camping equipment to chuck in before hooning it down to Folkstone. These things always happen at the worst possible time...

have you tried using the boot pull stick thing near the pedals?if your cars got one

mine has you just pull it and the boot pops open

Thanks Hindey... U r a saviour... just bought my car a week ago and the seller showed me the boot so when it didn't open for me I was thinking it could not have broke just like that. I tried for a week and a few of my friends had a go but they couldnt either. Then took it to SEAT today and a guy took a quick look said the lock has jamed and said to book it in. So thought I would have a look at the forums and hey presto!!!!

Basically I unlocked the boot manually with the key then unlocked the car with using the key fob by pressing the button twice and it popped open

Thanks again

Nils

bargain did knock some dosh off the sale aswell as the boot didnt open???? ^^^

welcome to scn btw

I found another way to deal with this problem..... Just get really angry with it.... drop the back seats down take out everything thats in the boot and smack the living S#*t out of the panel right above where the lock is..... worked for me twice now.... i think the vibrations move the mechanism a fraction and that free it up... so if all else fails give it a go!!!

Oh yea... it happens with Audi A8's as well (Same bar thing to connect the handle and lock with the catch.) access is easier as you can get in via the flaps that cover the lights, but you do have to have the boot open first!!! no idea as yet how to do that as the seats dont fold down!!!!! Driving sometimes creats the vibrations to get it open... that what happend to my old mans... Hope this is of some help to someone!!!!

That opens the bonnet, not the boot.

Unless its a different lever we are talking about that only the newer Mk4's have?

The common problem seems to be the white loop that is attached to the boot opening mechanism comes off the hook that's part of the handle. It's normally a case of removing the boot trim from the boot then basically putting it back on, or squeezing your hands through one of the covers as rash said earlier.

I'm not sure its anything that breaks, just falls off.
