Yeah he's right ..Just hope you aint got them weird safety clips as there kinda simple to get off but an arse to get back on unless you've got some jublie clips...

I havent owned a seat cupra long but these problems are all kinda the same...Just try and locate the pipes and un plug them one buy one...you cant do no damage..

right. well i'm gonna go and get my dad to give it a tow bak to the house. just lucky the garage is across the road.

then i'll get on my back an have a look.

My dad did this to his Discovery once, only 2 litres mind you in a 75 litre tank, made it a tad smokey for a week or two.

But 21 litres!!! How did you not notice! The smell gives it away!

if you've had the ignition on it will have primed the lines...

thats the squirty noise when you start up.

Your pump may be fubar'd

A new fuel filter will deffo be needed once you get the unleaded out...

TBH mate, I'd just get the AA out - £200 quid for peace of mind on your £10+k car - expensive mistake right enough!

Best of luck.

I'm gonna go with you on that after work tomorrow get the AA out, i'd probably make it worse fannying around not know what i'm doing.

There goes my christmas. never mind the usual crap i get at xmas i'll be after a fuel pump and filter under the tree!

I did a wee search and found this
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=135986&highlight=FUEL+PUMP

have a look at post #12 seems easy enough, it says this;

The fuel lines easily come apart. They are clipped togetherand are designed to be unclipped, with a release button on the female side of the joints. There are joints just infront of the fuel tank that are ideal to split with the back of the car lifted up and a container underneath.

I used the lift pump in the tank to pump the fuel out. Access gained under the back seat. Electrical connector has four conections. The two outer are the pump and the terminal fed by the brown wire is earth.

Connected 12V to the outer terminals and pumped all fuel out of the tank via the disconnected black 'feed' fuel line. Then reconnected the feed leaving the return disconneted. Put another gallon of diesel in the tank and again ran the lift pump to try and prime the pipes. Replaced the electrical connector and started the engine up letting it run at idle until the gallon of fuel had worked its way through and been pumped out of the still disconnected return fuel pipe.

Reconnected the return pipe, added a futher gallon of diesel and drove the car back to the filling station.

PD130 running like a dream again!

I first called the AA by the way. They could only offer to take the car to the nearest approved centre (actually the filling station I was at!) who were then going to charge me £200 for 15 mins work and fuel disposal!

dont worry about it our work lads are always doin it on the vans usually only a fiver though if you had put a fiver in you need to put 25 of derv in always times by 5, but putting 21 litres in you would be better draining it and filling it full to the brim with diesel

just letting you know what happened.

i unplugged the fuel lines at the tank and drained the tank and filled it with 55litres of diesel.

i didnt know it could take that much, i did some venting. so far it seems all is well i would never have knowen its had petrol in it.

thanks for the help guys. if you do put unleaded in your derv and dont start it and are able to drain the tank then do it and save your self £200 the AA wanted.

do you have a pic for the next dounut! :D :bleh: glad everything is ok tho mate what where the clamps like on the pipes going to the tank?

You might want to change the diesel filter too, when petrols in the tank they break down and stop the car running.

They're about £10, I would purely for peace of mind.

male-female type connections with a push button to pull apart i'll take some pics but you cant miss them if you get on your back.
