Haven't fitted as yet, as time was running short.

I did check the "flash" situ while the test setup was hooked up, and all seemed ok.

Still unsure about the H1 HID's. Altho the flash works fine, i'm not sure about how long the bulbs will last with the intermitent use that main beam's get.

As for the connection fix I mentioned above, it works perfectly...the extra leads don't even need to be that long (as it's all inside the light box...all I'd say is make sure you tape up the connections to avoid any shorts.

I know a few people (not Leon owners though) with HID for the main beams who haven't had problems. I don't think you'll shorten the life span of the bulbs at all. I suppose, if you were being paranoid, the ballasts might be more of a concern due to the short on and off cycles and frequent power spikes they will have to deal with. But I'm fairly sure they will be ok.

Hurrah!

I've successfully managed to fit the H1 kit to my main beams using dmmsta's wiring solution :funk:

Mounting another 2 ballasts was a little trickier than the first 2, but not too bad - although it's not the neatest of installations!

The difference in light output is absolutely amazing - took the car for a quick drive down one of the unlit roads that I regularly drive down. Turning on the main beams made everything literally bright as day!

There also doesn't seem to be any problem with flashing the lights, etc. So I'm hugely pleased with the mod :D

Thanks to everyone who helped (namely dmmsta and UncleFester) - I doubt I would have managed without you!

Glad to be of assistance...and after the glowing report of the H1 lamps after they've been fitted mean's I shall be drilling more holes on Monday morning, once I've finished by weekend shifts.

Only thing I might do is change the 4300k dipped beam bulbs for 6000k, as I'm liking the bluer tinge that the 6000's give...therefore there may be a set of 4300k H7 bulbs if anyone wants (or poss swap?!)
