Dave Ibiza 1.2

Guest
Hi Guys,

Any help would be much appreciated as I’m not sure what to do next.

I have a seat Ibiza 1.2 53plate, and I think the timing chain is slipping again! yes again, at 45k I had this replaced under warranty by the Seat dealer I bought the car from, they made pretty bad mess on the engine, was covered in oil and all sort or crude, my dad says he could not believe they did not re gasket the engine(I have no idea what he means by this) as instead they have used flexi string or matchstick not sure what it called, ever since then the engine has leaked oil, and now the timing Chain is slipping again.

As they made such a mess last time I’m little worried to take it back to have it replaced? And also after being replaced only 2 years ago should this really need replacing again? Car is now on 90k though :(

Would you suggest ringing Seat and complaining about that this has happened twice or just bite the bullet and have it replaced anyway before it breaks and does more damage? p.s is it expensive to have this work done?

Any help would be massively appreciated

Thanks Dave

if you search timing chain you will find loads on it as its common on the 1.2

if you was unhappy with the work why did you not take it back to start with? i doubt SEAT will want anything to do under warranty as it has been a couple f years and a lot of miles. you best bet it to take it to a vag specialist of a different dealer and bite the bullet
