Hello there people ! i'm new to this web site as i've only just bought a mk1 seat leon fr tdi 150 and i've seen lots of good things and replys to people questions. so i was thinking maybe you guys would be able to help me along with fitting cruise control to my 55 plate leon. i know they do a kit on on flee bay but i'd rather use a seat stalk. plus the seat one is only £56 to buy. can anyone give me a step by step instuctions on how to do this, codes for vag-com (if needed) and do i need to pay for softwear.:help:

vag-com - you will need to pay to be able to make changes
stalk - sometimes on fleabay, but not very often
guide - on here and also mkiv forum area

looks like a 1hr job from research

could you post a link for me to go to coz i've had a look on here and couldn't find anything. i think i've found someone who has the vag-com and the lead but they need the codes.

i baught mine from seat - you get the full instruction booklet with the kit - most of the pdf guides on here are just a scan of the guide you get with the kit from seat, you can active it whith the free version of vag com very easy - you could probably install it your self aswell - bit fiddly though - hardest bit being - taking the airbag off - the guide supplied and the guide on internet only refer to the golf steering wheel - with the seat one you have to - put a thin screw driver in and pushout - very very fiddly - and dont forgewt to disconnet battery

At last i've found a place that is willing to fit a genuine vw cruise control stalk for my leon 55 plate fr tdi 150 for the sum of £100 inclusive parts and labour. tims vw (023) 92375550 38 Jubilee Avenue, Paulsgrove, portsmouth, hampshire, PO64ON. The Genuine Volkswagen and Audi Group Specialist and the best part is that it is only 30 mins up the road. the only problem is that now you have told me that i could do it myself with the free vag-com i'm thinking do i have a go ? what to do ? what to do ? do you have to put in codes or do you just click a button and there it is ? if you do put codes in what are the codes ? and do the leads work from ebay ?

Andi - if you want to DIY I'm happy to spend time with you doing it - it's very very easy.

I picked up the stalk on ebay for about £63 last time when I did Dad's octy, and just fitted it... not hard at all.

you haved to enter a 5 digit code into a box - thats all - i got the instructions from ukmkivs but cant find them now - will have another scan later

ETKA shows this part and description :-

1J0 998 527 A - retrofit kit for cruise control system

- Check it with the dealership first though as I don't know what's in this kit.

The indicator stalk with the cruise switch on it is :-

8L0 953 513 J
