As Lee says, with the mirrors folded in take a flat headed screw driver covered with a rag and start to lever the cover off. I found it easier to start from the end where the mirror folds. It comes away pretty easily.

I think when they fold in, you'll see they lift up slightly and the cover pops a little I think.

Have a look at the new mirror and check out where the clips are, will help too.

I'm with a square mirror with manual adjuster/ no heating and I was wondering can I change it with a heating mirror glass or they go only with the electric folding mirrors?:D

Just found the answer :)
I've removed the mirror housing to find out that there is no wiring coming to the mirror. So I guess if i want heated mirrors I have to put the necessary loom.

Since I've bought the car I have this issue with the drivers' wing mirror. The manual adjuster doesn't work. Last night I took it apart and found out that two small plastic pieces are broken. I've replaced them with a piece of nail, but after putting all together the adjuster doesn't work well again.
I guess my only option is replacement with another one, but I'm not sure except Leon/toledo from what other cars can I get one. I only need the mechanism with the knob for the manual adjuster. I'll use my mirror glass and plastic cover.
Can I use tear drop mirror mechanism (if there is one with manual adjustment) to replace my square one?
