the 1.4TDi is a good engine like I said with plenty of punch low down but if you can find a 1.9 100bhp then I'd go for that! ive not really had any problems with mine and the mpg isn't too bad compared to the 1.2 ;)

NickyJam, I have the points card, never received anything from it, although I do have the Citi Shell Credit Card, you get a 3% (or 6% cant remember) on all the fuel you purchase..... I usually get about £5 reimbursed a month..... I make sure I pay off the fuel bills IN FULL each month so i never get interest added, seems like a good deal to me! :)

ha! ye got a shell points card too ;)

My Dad received a V-Power card as we used to drive petrol cars (and you get extra points when using V-Power). He's got the old card and i use this new 1.

Now i'm drivin an Ibiza FR TDi and my dad a Mercedes E280 CDi Sport. We mainly use them for the benefit of air miles :D lookin forward to my discounted holiday this summer [B)]

Your basis is correct. The 1.9 doesn't need to be revved as much to get to the desired "cruising" speeds whereas you'll find yourself either revving harder in your 1.2/1.4TDi or seeing everyone overtaking you :p

my fr tdi gives just over 400miles and tank and cost £50 to fill up and thats not drivning like my granny all the time but this time its given me 250 miles to just under half a tank good seen as the diesel round hear is going up 2p every other day

It costs me £45 to fill up my 1.8T cupra and only get about 215 miles from a tank and the trip computer says I'm getting about 30mpg.

on the subject of the fuel light coming on how far can a 1.9Tdi Fr go once the light has come on, my computer seems to say 30 to go when the light starts and ive never risked more than a couple of mile once it says 0.

I'm doing about 400 miles to a full tank which doesn't seem much to me.
what miles are other people doing to a full tank because I'm seriously thinking of changing!!

You are kidding?

You realise that it's a 45 litre tank? It's not Passat sized tank!

I'm getting just on everyday commuting (4 miles into work, 4 miles back) of stop start traffic.

I get 330 miles out of my tank on this run.

But long distance it's incredible. :D

I had a 2006 1.4 16v and I only once saw 300 miles from a tank. It was appauling. Mainly cos you have to drive it so hard to get it to go anywhere. The 1.2 12v is far better. Mother's got an 08 Ref sport 1.2 and its doing over 400 to a tank.

my FR130 i've only had it since April but i'm seeing 350-450 per tank. 350's if i drive it hard, still at least 50 more than the Sport and SOOO much more fun so i dont care.

but recently i've been driving it normally, using the cruise control etc, easily get 450 from a tank driving the 5miles to work and back, the odd 20mile trip into town, and round about to friends etc. cruises in the 50mph limit roads in 6th gear at about 72mpg. Average about 45 usually though.

My 07 Cupra TDi has just gone past 40,000 it costs around £55 to fill up & get 400 miles to a tank.
This week i have filled it up 3 times i wish i was driving 8 miles to & from work like some of you guys.

got a 1.8t cupra roughly £45 to fill up and get in return average 220-260 miles dependant on where i drive, long journeys average 34-36 mpg

short in town journeys about 25-28mpg

you'll probably find that the 1.4tdi struggles with the mpg more because it's a small power engine pulling a lets be honest quite heavy car, which means your labouring it more, and as said above need to rev it more to get it to move.

im with all the petrol cupra guys, 220 ish miles to a tank and last fill up cost £55 as i use v-power :(

wouldnt have it any other way tho! ;)

In my little 1.2 I normally runs from reserve light to reserve light and this requires a refill of around 40 -45 litres (about £45) this gives me around 400 miles. I have a daily commute of 30miles (60 round trip). A more detailed analysis shows an average of 42mpg.

Just as an aside I vented the tank and was able to add 60 litres this allowed me to get over 500 miles on that top up

My record for fuel used on my fr tdi was 200 miles to a full tank but that was hammering the living hell out of it everywhere with a revo remap. Ended up putting about 2000 miles of wear on the tires aswell :D usually about 300 - 350 miles per tank but i dont hang about much;):D

I cant believe that you drive 4 miles to work :-o. You should get on a bike and save a tank of fuel every couple of weeks to save for mods/insurance!:D
