My 1.4tdi does a pretty consistant 49-52 mpg over a full tank, worked out on each tankfull by amount put in / miles covered. This is mostly in town driving. Get between 420-450 miles and fill up with about 38-40 litres, so not run right down.

Has gone upto almost 60mpg with long motorway jounrneys. The 1.4tdi is at its best economy wise on the motorway, so long as you dont try to exceed 70.

The 1.4tdi is a good choice. I had a blast with a mate with a 1.9 pd 100, and there was very little in it speed wise acclerating onto a dual carriageway, i was only a couple of car lengths behind. His fuel economy is about 50mpg over a tank with almost all motorway driving.

I worked out a while ago that for my last 2,000 miles i've spent around £250 on fuel....That's filling up 20 quid at a time. Mostly driving in and around London and a few trips up and down the country.

Standard powered 130 TDI Sport

spend £40 a week, and do about 230 miles on it. ive heard that we should expect £1.50 a litre by the end of the year. ouch!

just read the post, ive gone from a 1.4tdi ref sport to a FR TDI and around town i managed 44mpg in the 1.4tdi and 44.2mpg in my FR TDI bearing in mind my FR is brand new and still tight. the 1.4tdi labours at low revs where as the FR doesnt, plus FR got a 6 Speed box which helps.

to be fair the ibiza has a really small fuel tank, my girlfriend can stick more value of petrol in her 1.2 8v corsa than i can get in my tdi ibiza.

typically get 340 miles to a tank from my mapped 130 tdi. most of which is town driving. trip computer avereage is about 42 mpg. on a run it will do roughly 450-470 to a tank and average circa 58 mpg

filled up again recently and clocking mileage...currently running at an average of 42mpg around London town (law-abiding citizen driving :D)

i've started driving like a grandad and do 62mpg average on way to work and 52 on the way home.
kind of balances out the stupid prices of diesel at the minute.

(tdi cupra 160)

i put around £30 in mine a week which gets around 200 miles, pretty bad if i'm going to the girlfriends who's 100 miles away, it used to cost me about a tenner each way roughly, now its 15 nearly 20.
b4stard fuel prices!

I filled up the other day and it cost me £48!

I seem to be getting about 430 Miles to a tank right now.
