The meguires one. I followed the instructions but i must be doing it wrong?
I clean the car, dryied it, put the mist on, then rubed the bar over and nothing it just slid over and the spots were still there?

The megs clay bar did not remove the tar spots on mine either, took off recent ones that were still soft but ones that had been on for a while had to be removed with petrol. Sounds extreme but works ok.

The last time I polished my Leon with Autoglym, I ended up with swirls everywhere - even when I tried to polish in straight lines. Is this common with the Seat paint?

1) Rinse with cold water (hosepipe)
2) Wash with hot water and car shampoo
3) Rinse with cold water
4) Chamois with 'Autoglym' chamois.
This last time, I used an old duvet cover as a 'duster'.

er duvet cover is not good at all, that will have made the scratches, as a test rub your cloth on an old cd (silver side), and look at the marks it leaves, thats what it will do to your paint, also how hot is your water ?my recomendations are :-
1. get a meguiars lambswool wash mit (never use any type of sponge)

3. get some microfibre wipes for removing polish

5. apply some meguiars NXT tech wax to hide your present swirls (check this video http://www.meguiars.co.uk/Meg_Videos/TECH_WAX_300.wmv )
these steps should keep your swirls to a minimum

There is a fellow on autopia.org that loves the Autoglym SRP, but I haven't used it since I went car cleaning bonkers.

yeh agree theres loads of products available, i thought he wanted an easy option, thats why i suggested those, but i got and use, klasse, poorboys, megs, p21's, megs #18, megs #83, megs 80, megs nxt, zymol concours, clearkote, souveran, i have tried all sorts, the best shine i have achieved came from

steps 1 & 2 say every 3-4 months, then every 2 weeks do step 3, but i wash in between too
