Getting back to the thread. I have a megs waffel towel for drying and its cr4p leaves water everwhere and never seems to dry it properly!

Not having much luck with the clay and towls. The micro firbre polishing cloths are great tho but get clocked with polish too quickly

You guys do realise that the PC polisher is just a random orbital sander with a polishing pads right? Even argos sells a RO sander for £30 ;)

Oh and any UK Stockist of Porta Cable ( there are a few in the UK ) could get you a 240v version of that sander.

right, the pc is a random orbital polisher, but it has been used by car detailers for years , it is far superior to any of the cheap random orbit machines you talk about (the only exception is the makita at £240), and works at varaible speeds, it does not heat the paint up. these are the only 2 random orbital machines that i would use on my paint.

oh and no uk stockist of porter cable can get a 240v version of the pc 7424, as there has never been a 240v version made, and they dont sell such machine in the uk market. believe me i tried (check for yourself http://www.porter-cable.uk.com/index.asp )

i havnt made all the above info up !its all tried and tested

There used to be a 240v version of the orbital sander/polisher, didn't know they'd discontinued it. I know a sprayer that uses a matika but he told me that any RO sander will do the job as long as you can get the polisher pads or attachments to fit it.

Heating the paint will happen if you hold the PC one in the same place too long just like any other make. You just need variable speed, which even the cheapest RO should have.

I'm not disputing the Porta cable is good, because all Porta Cable products last forever, if I was using it every day I would buy a Porta Cable without a doubt, but for someone who might use it twice a year it's possibly a bit overkill IMO.

i have held my pc against an old panel, i held it against it for 5 minutes in the same place, and the paint did not get hot, i colud of done it longer but i got bored , this may be the same for other RO machines but i still would only use this machine on my car

I just dont like the name polisher/sander! Makes me very nervous!
The hellfruads one is great at putting the stuff on and taking the excess off but i still need to get it off with th MF cloth.

Im going to see a sprayer mate of mine to see if he has an old one i can have or weather he can get me trade prices on one

ah well, if you have a mate in the business then he will probably do it for you, as they use orbital polishers, dangerous for begginers, but ok for pros, they work quicker than random orbit ones (this is what makes the orbital nones dangerous)
