You got a spare £1000 lying around?
4 hrs labour to fit so around £250-300 and an uprated clutch/flywheel is around £750.
No point in putting a standard jobbie back in there. Make sure you check the torque rating for your new clutch.
Some ''uprated'' clutches only manage 310lbft so they would be no use. You need a 350lbft+ IMO for it to be worthwhile.
If you use your existing flywheel it will obviously be a couple of hundred £££'s cheaper but normally when your clutch is slipping, your flywheel tends to be on its way out also!

how much is 450nm in torque, is that good, just my uprated clutch is that and seems to be spot on

I know, I definitely want the flywheel done as well, just trying to come to terms with the money side of things. I think I would be best getting a B&B in Manchester for the night as it's a 300 mile EACH WAY trip for me. Sarah, what would the damage be to change the internals for a Quaiffe Diff at the same time when the gear box is off?
Obviously Sarah is in the selling game mate and reccomends a flywheel but it is not essential.
My clutch was slipping for about 4-5months, and i had been putting 400+lbft through it. Awesome reccomend changing the flywheel which put me off going with them so i phoned JBS and they told me it was unlikely the flywheel would need replacing as the DMF are very strong! In the end i went with JBS as they gave me a good fitting quote of £211 and needless to say when the clutch was removed the flywheel was in perfect condition! (Car at 50,000)
I can see where awesome are coming from though as if you were booked in for 1 day and they removed the clutch to discover the flywheel was knackered, then you would be up **** creek as you would then have to order a new flywheel which would obviously render your car off road and in their garage for a day or 2.
However JBS stock the DMF, so if you were to need 1, you wouldn't have this problem! They also do you a swap deal on your knackered flywheel meaning you would get a whole new flywheel for about half its original price!
You can if you look hard enough, get an uprated clutch for £4-500. (Import from states) Fitting at JBS £211 and a release bearing £30 meaning you can get it done for £700-750.
Sod the flywheel when chances are you wont need 1.
If your intent on splashing out £1250 on a clutch, at least phone JBS/Jabbasport and big boys toys for quotes also and compare. Sarah i'm not trying to lose you a sale here, i'm just giving some advice as £1250 is a hell of a lot of money!

No i never said that Sarah, its just you guys told me i would need 1, when it turned out i didn't and hence i saved myself 500 odd bucks. I mean £1250 is a lot a lot of money, well to me it is!
I do see what your saying though, there is no way of knowing if you can reuse it until its taken off and that is why you reccomend changing it. That's not bad advice, its good you are letting the customer know that it MAY need replacing and that it will make a significant change to the prce as they are very expensive.
James does have spare flywheels lying around at JBS where that if it did come down to a customer needing 1 he would sell them a used but skimmed 2nd hand flywheel in swap for your own at a fraction of the cost (£150 rings a bell) He would then skim that flywheel and do the same to the next customer and so on and on. A good service he has there seeing as you said brand new they are £600 odd

The thing that you as awesome are offering differently is a lightened flywheel which of course is a mod in itself, lower inertia to get it moving = quicker acceleration. It made a 0.2sec difference in the facelifted civic so would no doubt make the same difference in our cars too.

Nice one, I appreciate the advice, JBS did quote me a price for the uprated clutch while still using my existing dual mass flywheel. The price they quoted was 700+ vat for the clutch kit, 180+ vat for '4' hours labour, which all equates to £1034 all in. To be honest, I think for the difference between Awesome and JBS I think I am swaying toward Awesome and paying the extra couple of hundred, just to know I have a lightened flywheel. Is that price really the best you can do Sarah?

But hey if you dont need the flywheel at the time then your ok , but it is VERY VERY hard to get an uprated clutch for a 6 speed box anyway

There are tonnes of people around this forum site with slipping clutches at the moment, especially the TD guys. (GB anyone
) Perhaps they're not as strong as we all think they are

nope.
i dont know the spec'd holding torque rating.
r32 is heavy but not as powerful as a chipped lcr, but *should* hold
i ran std 02m tt clutch on golfy and all was well.
whats steve cane running in his tt?

3 to be precise and I know that there was issues with one of them , so to be honest I am not sure about them.
That issue was with the DMF that was supplied with it.
It is hard when it comes to the new suppliers that there is out there as you are putting your name to something that you dont know the quality of
You will find that someone somewhere will have had issues with every make out there , so Spec clutches mmmmm I dont know
The problem is IF ther does become an issue , America is a long way to complain about the problems that you have

Nothing wrong with SPEC clutches... its badger mobile runs on.... Better unit than the Helix I ran before durability/wear wise.
mines a G60/ABF flywheel tho, not dual mass, so somewhat more "common"
240mm upgrade units in dual mass look scarse on th emarket place.
