Ibiza Fr 1st Service

This might be a stupid question but my first service is due in 500 miles or so and I've just been told I don't have to get it done at a main dealer, as long as seat parts are used my warranty will be fine is this so?!?!?!? I imagine this has been posted before but I need a quick answer as I can get it book in a local garage soon and save a fortune!

if its SEAT parts then yes your warrenty will remain. the garage lso has to be v.a.t registered.
it might be a idea to get proof that its SEAT parts!

He says about £50-£60 but my local garage is very local i.e. 1/2 miles away but the local seat garage is good 15 mile round trip. The only thing is the stamp in the service book won't be seat but I suppose it doesn't matter too much.

should hurt to much aslong as you keep all the history/recipts!

that's what I have done, my step-uncle does the work on my car and he does all customers cars that are under warrenty still. He looked up what is meant to be done on the car at the mileage and orders the genuine parts in advance then stampes the book and gives me itemised receipt. This is being done to my car as we speak! Yay I get to drive a crap 206 today!

hey could be worse then a 206! i was given a fiat seicento once!! it wasnt even the sporting so it was really really slow.....................!

Ha HA funny i was looking into this the other day, as the customer service from my dealer is shockingly bad.

I am going to INDIE-TEC in MK http://www.inde-tech.co.uk/ when mine needs a service. There 1/2 the price of the dealer and have a better reputation in MK then the dealer does. I had to do a bit or research to find them.

st10587 - maybe its worth looking round and seeing if there is a place like this round your way?

yeh that's the other option go to a vw specialist but I expect they aren't cheap either. The courtesy cars I get are crap usually old rovers or fiestas but not everyone gets a courtesy car,cos I'm family I do!
I went in once and they were just mentionong to another customer that the old Rover was available, then the mechanic came in and said to me oh here the keys to the old silver Rover parked out there. The other guy didn't get a car then!

I phoned Seat UK about this and they said you don't even need to use Seat parts to keep the warranty. As long as they can't prove that a non-Seat part or bad maintainence has contributed to a problem that you are claiming on warranty, you can use anything.

Personally though I would still use Seat/VAG parts.

I took the wifes to a Skoda dealer round the corner from where I work, saved a fortune!

Year before we took it to the only Seat dealer in out area JCT, who charged £230 for 30k service - and they didn't even tell me the front brake pads were getting low, had to phone them 2 days later to ask if the mechanic had spotted it. Said he had but not told me when I picked it up.

Took it to the Skoda garage last year and they only charged £130, and that was when I asked for the full monty service. They even called me a few days later to ask if everything was alright (as they do whenever I've taken it in for work - excellent customer service and cheaper prices and all VAG parts).

Even sorted me out when I lost the locking nut adapter, cost me £14 for replacement when JCT wanted £25.
