hello i went to my car boot with my bags unlocked car on remote, and guess what it did not open i can hear it unlock and lock but when i lift the seat badge its just as if it locked!! whats gone wrong ? ive tried with the key in lock but nothing at all....

sounds like you need to take the S out as it is seized up i took mine off and sprayed some lubricant stuff and all was well after or you could just buy a spare off ebay?

dunno where you're based, but, maybe frozen stuck? did you try running the engine for a while then trying again?

in cumbria, it feels like the lock is not unlocked as the boot pull felt same as when it is locked normally, maybe the motor has gone?

There is a small plastic clip in the lock mechanism that can become brittle and snap. It's a very cheap part and can be fitted yourself. there are guides with pics on this site.

You need to get in the boot from the back seat and remove the interior boot lid trim. then all will be revealed.

To be honest I don't think you need pics of the clip as once the interior boot lid trim is off you will prob see the little metal rod dangling and the broken clip will be inside the bottom of the boot lid.

The guide is for removing the interior boot lid trim as there are some hidden screws.

Hold on, I'll post a link to the guide.

the EXACT same thing happened to me last week. I couldn't get the tailgate trim panel off from inside as there are two screws either side of the latch which you clearly can't remove with the boot closed.

I ended up cutting an inch wide flap in the bottom centre trim panel with a stanley knife. This then gave me access to the unlock "rod" which I pulled to open the boot.

Once I took the panel off there seemed to be a black plastic ring that fitted around the lock mechanism that had "slipped" round. I moved it back and now everything is fine. I've left the flap open in case it happens again...

Here is a link to a page on Muddyboots website

http://www.seat-ibiza-mk4.co.uk/ibiza_boot_trim_removal.htm

In order to open the boot you will need to peel back the boot trim as much as you can from inside and then get your hand inside and operate the catch that has the broken clip.

Once open you can fully remove the trim and repair the fault

Right at the bottom of that page is a pic and in that pic there is a thin metal rod (like a bit of a wire coat hanger) and the small white clip at the end of it could well be your fault.
