Ibiza Side Light Bulbs

Can anyone tell me the best way to change the front sidelight bulbs on a tdi 130 sport - twin bulb type lamps . It looks to me like headlight out jobbie - if so , does anyone know the dismantle sequences - if you know what i mean

It can be done without taking the headlamp out, but it's very tight! Best way is to try and move as much stuff away from the back of the lamp i.e. battery cover's etc.

Oh and plenty of patience and cut hands!

long nose angled pliers are my favourite

**tip** DONT pull the wires - they will break out needing a repair if you do

once they are in/out twice they are loose as anything

Any further tips on this? I have small hands and I still can't change the sidelight bulbs.

loosen off and move the battery away a bit will help a bit on one side but to be honest never had trouble with the LONG reach pliers and one hand in there - watch your fingers as a pinch off em hurts ! ! - trust me -

another tip - dont mess with it too long with your hands in there - done a ford ka last week and nearly got my hand stuck

It's the other side I'm struggling with as there's some sort of cannister in the way (PD130 engine).

Thats your fuel filter mate, think it will slide up out of the black round bracket if you loosen the fastener, dont pull at pipes to much though

Managed to do it with removing the fuel filter.

Now how do I get the rear light housing the indicator and brake light out as one of them has blown. The manual says to remove the 2 screws and then pull the pilot! I've no idea what it means and having no luck removing it.

Remove the 2 screws then pull like hell. They are really tight. Like the front bulbs, once in and out a few times they soon loosen up a bit...like most things in life....

I'll second that - they are *really* tight to get out, so much so you think you're going to break something. The front edge of the lamp housing has got a big beefy clip holding it into the body. Best of luck, hope nothing breaks !

With regards to the headlights - if you want to remove them, it's a bumper-off job (which isn't that hard, takes about 10-15 mins once you've worked out where all the screws are. Oh and they're all torx-headed screws too ;-) ).

If you have the factory Xenons like me, this is the only way to get your main beam bulbs out (and the dipped discharge bulbs - but they should never go in theory...)

Once the bumper's off, each headlight is secured by 4 torx-headed screws (2 top and 2 bottom).

A good idea might be to get the bumper off, remove the headlights, and replace all the side & indicator bulbs with LED versions that should never blow.

I don't seem to be able to get a good enough grip on it to pull straight back. I'll have another a go tonight as it was getting dark when I tried last night.

as a last resort U can get at the clip from the inside if u take off the interior trim and peal back the carpet. A pair of needle nosed pliers pinching the clip helps it come off with ease.... but u do have a fair bit of plastic trim to remove first!! Mine was a stubborn B***h to free. U'll manage and after a few tries like qifop said they loosen up.

Sorted it last night, the problem I had was the black plastic lip was catching on the body work. I used a wide bladed plastic scraper to lever it round and off it came.

My driver's side sidelight needs changing as well. I bought a bulb, opened the bonnet and tried fiddling with it for about 10 minutes before giving up. I'll have another crack at it when it's not raining. Which may be some time.....
