Hi guys, about to go back for Uni and I'm getting the car ready for summer as much as possible.

So I jump started as the battery could be shagged or just flat as **** from a mates car and it starts and moves and seems to brake OK but it has absolutely no throttle response from the pedal, though if you manually move the body it revs. The throttle body doesn't move when I press the pedal.

The idle is erratic ranging from the usual 650 or so up to 1150, almost being revved by the ECU. However sometimes it shuts up and idles fine. When you move the throttle body manually it still idles up and down, just at a higher RPM (though I presume that is to be expected).

When you move it back and forwards across the drive it does that fine (i.e. no erratic idling) at bite point, but still no throttle response.

The EPC/ECU light is on, as is the pollution one which I know means accelerator pedal problem.

The car has been sat since about late October and I only started it once at Christmas for about 10 minutes.

What do we think? Cooling sensor? Temp? MAF? New ECU?

I searched the site but only got those few responses. What is the best thing to try first?

Hope I've made myself clear, thanks in advance for any replies.

Ha. Thanks for your reply.

I turned it off and on again after the battery had got some charge in it, and it's now fine? Still has ECU lights on though, but throttle and idle is now fine! I suspect the lights might go off after a drive, they did when I replaced a coilpack a while back. dealer said they would need £50 and a manual reset! Ha.

Love the lamps on your car btw, they're angel eyes aren't they?

What does DBW stand for?

Maybe it is was just "very low" you might have got away with it, ECU lights do generally need a reset but as been said on here before they have gone out after a battery disconnection.
Yeah angel eyes moe pics in my sig :)

DBW is Drive By Wire.

Ah. I switched it off after a few hours and restarted it to find the same problem, then off and on again and it went. Then I left it off for a few minutes and tried again the battery was dead. Think the battery is probably shagged after a long hard winter (excuse the pun). Probably took a battering over winter (and again). I unlocked the radio and then when I tried to start the car it locked again. It's pointing to battery?

Cheapest place for a battery? On here?

Yeah sounds like a plan. Wish I'd taken pictures of my mouldy interior before I cleaned it today...tut tut tut, had that seal problem, like wet inside, like since October.
