The 184 was released later than the 150 and was hard to get hold of at first.

I would guess some people needed to change cars before the 184 arrived ( PCP deals )

Many are now dropping their 150 for a 184.

The 184 SP new is approx £22.5k (broker) vs a used 150ps of £16k (APPROX 5K mileage). the price difference between the 184 ps and 150 ps new is £1k but I am struggling to locate a 184ps for even £2k more at £18k in monsoon grey with the 18" alloys

I've done this, 184 much more punchy drive. 150 is nice car though

Took me a while to find a good 184 in the spec I wanted.

In the end I took a pre-reg 184SC FR ( 5 miles on the clock, 2 months old ) RED with 18"wheels, tech pack, alcantera, spare wheel, convenience pack.

All in at £18,900

agree with DEANO, takes time for the right spec to pop up

just got a 4 month old 184, nevada white, tech, convenience, alcantara, lane assist, 18s, 7k miles on paid 18490

My 1.2 SE cost over £22k...

I could have had a 184 for less if I'd wanted. For lots of people the bigger engines are unnecessary. It isn't all about cost.

I didn't want a diesel, didn't want an FR, and needed an auto gearbox. That gave me only one choice, the 1.2dsg. The 1.8 isn't available in SE spec for some ridiculous reason. I just specced it back up with the options list so I got all the good bits.

Took me a while to find a 184st with a good spec. Ended up travelling 600 miles round trip. Got 6 months old with 7k miles , nevada white with tech pack, 18's, convenience pack , alcantara, seat sound, mud flaps, boot liner , two years servicing and panoramic roof (could only find three in the country with the roof!) for 19k. Goes well enough although wouldn't describe it as fast and don't get anywhere near the official economy figures.

what economy do you get Neil? I'm the same, best i had on a 400 mile round trip was 60.9, typically on my daily commute 20 mile each way i get high 40s-low 50s which isn't bad

60.9! Never had anywhere near that. Usually average high 40's maybe 50 if I'm lucky. Usual commute is 45 mile round trip but that includes driving through Glasgow which kills the economy especially when the engine is cold. 300 mile journey home when I got the car averaged 47mpg which wasn't bad as I was sitting about 90 most of the way home.

Then why get a FR at all when you can get a cupra? after speccing a 184 up to the same spec as a cupra its only a couple of grand less...

Firstly theres no way a cupra estate with the same spec as my fr is £21k even second hand! Secondly cupra estate wasn't available when I bought mine. Thirdly most of the spec I have isn't standard on a cupra either.....seat sound, metallic white paint, convenience pack, panoramic roof (all equate to a couple of grand !)Quoted economy of the cupra is nowhere near what the real world figures are. I came from a 2.0tsi octavia and achieve 150miles more to a tank in my friends which over 25k miles per year makes a huge difference.

So cupra is quite a few thousand more to buy with the same spec, is dearer to tax, will depreciate more so costs more on pcp, has poorer economy........but admittedly will be far more fun!! I would love one but current circumstances (high annual mileage, 19 month old kid and another due next week )means I have to be boring lol!

Well I was being facetious because of the OP question. But in fairness I did out of interest spec up a fr to match that of my own car and it came out at about 25-26 compared to the 28isb of the cupra. I can approximate the mpg of the fr is probably a fair bit more than the 40 cupra. Tax isn't that bad though.
