Hey,

Recently got a flip key. Used one off ebay and got a blank blade cut for my car.
In removing the transponder from my spare key it smashed.
I did get the one from my main key into the flip key and all is working. But i know have no spare key.
But I do have a used transponder from the flip key i got.
Got my SKC code and went to VAG-COM to code my previous master key with the used transponder in it.

So went in cleared the existing key count of two and entered value of two to save for new keys to be programmed. (needs to recode my working key too)
For some reason would only store the value 1 instead of two.
Transponder for either key now wouldnt match. So was left with no way of starting the car. Repeatedly re-tried the procedure many many times and wouldnt match either key.
At one stage my flip key with original transponder did match when i left it about a minute and a half before adding in the key and turnin on the ignition to match. But the other key wouldnt match so i tried again and again both keys wouldnt match. An hour later got same key to match again luckily and then stopped.

Both keys showed 1 in field 3 in the group 22 in measuring block.

Was the main problem that the transponder was a used one and that it would have been ok if i used a 'virgin' transponder for both keys?

#2
when using my original transponder key in the process and when asking for new value of 2 keys to match, it would only store the value one.
When using the key with the used transponder it would only store the value 0.

Anyone know why this is?
If i got a 'virgin' transponder in the key would you think that it would store the correct value I ask it to store?

I'd appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks.
I just ordered some from there.

Still, the stored value issue is weird. Is it the fact that the key does not have a new transponder in it that is does not store the asked value?

i did the same actually!" heheheh1

if you want a blae cut cheaply and properly for £1.76 lichfield lock and key did mine and someone elses on here!!

timpsons are rubbish!

Thanks.

I'm going to assume it's the transponder, a local car locksmith told me you need a fresh chip or it just won't work. (right before he told me he'd sell me one and code my key for £60!)

Thanks.

And does that also explain the stored value issue?
Or do you know why else that may be?
Have you heard of it experienced before?

Would the fact that my key that was working, then cleared from the car and then used to be matched again to the car when matching the new key, not mean that it then becomes a used transponder being programmed again?
Or is there something that codes it that it can be rematched to only that car but not other cars - and it is not that the transponder has already been coded and cant be re-written?

it stores the value of "1" when you do the remote programming with vag com too, I would say if you had your original and a virgin it would all be ok. both would work and the value would still say "1"

So, ignore the stored value of one and it would still code both keys?

Would you recommend:
1.
Use original key with original transponder. Use it when loading up VAG-COM and clearing old key entry. Enter two as new value, one is stored, remove orig key and use new transponder key as first attempt to code.
It may not thought then allow me to code the orig key.

or 2.
put new transponders in both keys. Would you expect VAG-COm to store the two value now?
Then be able to match the two keys.

Also, the original key is meas. block 22 shows 1 in all four fields.
Other key with used transponder has first two and fourth fields zero and field three at 1.
What does all the fields here mean?

Thanks,

@xd-data-ii;
i'm in the position of needing to organise a 2nd key and transponder etc.
Did you get yours working? an dif so which method, so i don't make a mess when i do mine.

cheers,
neilw

Where do you guys get the blades cut ??

I've been to 12 different places, and only 1 would cut it (and he did it wrong, key didnt fit).

I have received some blank blades, but can't find anywhere else that will do it !!!

ps - loads of info in the ibiza section about doing this - I managed to get a key for £12 from Ebay, move the transponder over to the flip key (wat a tw@t that was), successfully programme it to the car (leccy doors now lock/unlock from key) - just cant get it cut lol
