The shop it went too is a life long school mate, he is hyper passionate about cars and id trust him and his boys with any of my cars and indeed have in the past had my M3 worked on and my MG totally resprayed by him, so no, they haven't touched it save for the paint work...

4pm until 9pm last nyt and all day on it from 8 until now and it still wont connect to VAG com also trued every other reader from a 99p ebay special to VAG-Com, 5 diffrent ones in total and none will connect, all say either “failed to read” or “make sure ignition on“

ive lost the will to live with it now and any and all posts been tried...

Its going to Seat and ill have to swallow the pill as im totaly out of ideas and once it dose get fixed, if it gets fixed ill be outa pocket but hey!
Cars ya love, what ya gonna do?

thanks to those that have suggested ideas

Cheers

Are there no Seat/VW specialists close by? Might be slightly cheaper than a main dealer.
I also find most specialists seem to know more about the Mk1 than the main dealer.
Good luck with getting to the bottom of it anyway. Must be so frustrating having just spent a fortune on paint.

If you know anybody with same car and engine code you try a swap over to see if you can get it to connect to your reader
Or even check all the wires to the ecu and see if any are broken

Sorted!!!!

The ECU is toast, which as it would stand, is great news... Means i know what the issue is and how to fix it.... Cupra BBQ anyone? JOKE!

So, i now need to find a ECU with the following:
06A 906 0 32 MJ
Benzin ME7.5 0003

Ami right in thinking the replacement ECU must be same model as above or will any ECU fit as long as its the same No’s ergo, the “MJ“ part and the “003” after benzin do not matter?

ask as there are plenty on fleebay but although same numbers the letters are different...

advise appreciated

cheers

Glad you've narrowed it down are you sure the ECU is bad, not just a fuse supplying it has gone?

Tbh i'm not 100% sure on the part number requirements, as long as it is from the right engine code ie AUQ then I shouldn't imagine it matters, although i'm definitely not 100% sure on that.

It will however need coding to the car as the ECU and dash cluster vins will need to match for the immo to work. It won't be plug and play even if you get the exact same part number.

Lucky - I wouldn't mind having someone I can trust working on my car - the reason I do most of mine myself is because it turned out I did a better job on my own.

Any decent autoelectrician should be able to program the replacement ECU to the car and transfer the mileage etc. Glad you got it sorted, cars can be SO frustrating. Looking forward to the pic's!
