If Jabbas RR isn't working yet then that doesn't sound too promising for the rest of us and my PENCILED in date of being after you Ben(last week of October) looks shaky.
Its a 4 1/2 hr drive for me to Jabba so i won't be happy if i don't get a proper map and have to go back down for a custom map.

Well it looks like the rolling road isn't delaying the conversions, but yes the remapping is a pain!

I don't really understand why they can't just use the old rolling road? Tey used that one for all their other IHI'd cars.

If you do have to return a 2nd time then maybe you can negotiate some kind of discount to compensate?

cos its knackered and destroying bearings on high powered cars...
mucho high speed...

It probably is... (4wd rollers the old ones 2wd the new one.)
big turbo spool up is so much more aggressive on the old dyno's bearings... poor things crying enough.

wear out bearings faster = downtime = backlog = delays..... sound familiar?

I'm definately in tommorow.

The plan is that it'll take just one week, with the remapping being done (On the old rollers for now) on Friday. :D

Can't wait!

Knowing my luck something will go wrong. I'll probably have the 1 in thousand 1.8Ts that have weak rods or something! :drive2:

Wish me luck!

Ben

think they are going to give you the same as my map and just adjust it where needed then they are going to get us both back when they get their new RR up n running, not 100% sure though

Custardcupra has been told by jabba today his car will be ready for collection with stage3 fitted on the 5th of November. I was given some bad news on Tues and i was not expecting it at all. I am being made redundant on the 5th Of November. It left me with some hard choices do i get nos, stage 1 or 2 IHI or do i bite the bullet and go stage 3 or do i do nothing. After a lot of thinking and sleepless nights i am still going to go stage 3. What do u guys reckon. Is nos, stage 1/2 IHI just a half measure. Is stage3 the only real choice?.

I have been waiting ages, and have been looking forward to it. Basically i have heard i am entitled to 3 months wages, plus my 1 week in hand, and the holidays i have built over from December last year. Plus i have 5 days remaining from this year, i reckon in total i have about 5 weeks (25-28days inc week in hand) holidays owing and 3 months of basic laying off money. I would think its about 4 months of full pay. And about 8 months ago i bought redundancy cover which pays me £250 a week for 1 year. But i cannot use this until i have used the 3 months basic laying off money. Once the insurance kicks in i can also claim £50 unemployment benefit and my council tax is reduced. This is the worse case i would hope to be back into work as soon after christmas as possible. So worse case is £300 a week until Feb 06. I guess one way of looking at it is how safe is any job. If jabba had been fitting the kits last year it would have been on now and i would still have been unemployed in November anyway. A year is a long time, a lot can happen. I am just going to do stage 3 i have £300 guaranteed until Feb 06 anyway.

I never thought getting laid off would get to me as much as it did. I enjoyed my job and i liked working for the company, the other guys at work we all a good laugh. Tuesday night i never slept for 1 min, Wed was no better. Thursday teatime was the point at which i accepted there was nothing i could do, i had done nothing wrong, it was not my fault. I guess its just one of those things out of your control, made by the powers above at work. I have the odd little moment of panic. But its getting easier, but i reckon come the 5th i will be pretty stressed. Anyway just think of the time i will have on my hands for scooby slaying with IHI. Lets hope the company comes good with the holiday cash / Laying off money etc.

The car is actually at Jabba now! Its finally gonna happen!

I don't know what the ETA n getting the new rollers going is, do you?

Good luck ben,got em crossed for ya,you have waited long enough mate, let us know how ya go mate

Thats terrible news mate. :(

I'm kinda in the same boat too. I was told in March that they were closing our dept and outsourcing all the software development to Inida and Vietnam! They've given us a lot of notice though and I wont actually be finishing until December 31st.

Luckily I've got redundancy cover like you too, although I've never seen a policy that says it'll only start paying out after you've spent your redundancy money.

It may seem bad now, but believe me , your fortunes can change. You wouldn't believe how much luck I've had since then!!!

Personally in your situation I 'might' consider stage 1 or 2 'for now'. I spoke to Mike about this once and he said that going for stage 1 (Or 2) followed by going to stage 3 at a later date doesn't cost much more than going straight to stage 3, ie. theres not much wastage. He did say that if you plan on doing this then you must tell them as they will use stage 3 components on your stage 1/2 system (Mind you, I think that was back when they were gonna use different turbos for the Stage 1, 2 and 3 kits).

One thing you have to ask yourself about stage 3 is, can you afford to fix the car if something goes wrong. eg. if you kill the gearbox will you be able to afford to replace it?

Actually, truth being, if I were in your situation then I would probably go staight for stage 3 but thats because my bad side is sometimes stronger than my sensible side! :D

I hope you find something soon mate!

Ben

Cheers Ben i am going stage3, my wife always earned twice as much as me so its not as if my wage was the main one. I have had 2-3 job offers already this week, but i need to be laid off to recieve the full cash from my company. I am 100% going stage3. So its full steam ahead.
