Was readind some post on vwvortex and some guys that run the Dahlback mani arnt impressed with the returns.

ABD racing have just made a mani, looks nice: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2089719

This design also looks interesting:

ABD jobbie also is getting a hammering on vortex, but then again they're only happy when they're bashing someones products!
Only available in right hand entry tho are'nt they? or not?

ABD has larger plenum, shorter runners as a consequence of packing it in, BUT Dahlback as the slot filling which is going to even out cylinder filling IMHO, as well as having a larger plenum. Trouble with Dahlback was it wont do largeport even tho Hans Dahlback said it did. :(

Looking forward to seeing some actual figures tho..

Yeah from what i have read i think the abd racing one is only availible in rhd guis.

Looks nice and smooth on the outside. Buy if you look at the inside you can see the grain of the cast. Dont think it will have equal filling like the dalhback has. The cone at the bottom of the plenum is a nice to touch.

I was thinkin the cone at the bottom speeds up the flow once it gets narrower hence cylinder one gets equal air.

I am correct in assuming this bill?

There was another one posted on vwvortex - I posted a picture on here somewhere, it was a black painted one on a engine that was on a stand - "LSport" or something. Can't remember if it was slot fill or standard runner, and I think it was only right hand as well.

Thats the idea, and is why its used by the pukka motorsport guys inc Audi R8 Le-Mans cars, WRC, etc

There is a Audi R8 racer at Glasgow Audi + some Group B rally cars might ask them to let me have a look at their engine :) (They say no touching) ha

from what i can find out on scoob forums, the ihi vf34 is good for about 320-330hp max if tuned properly. At 300hp, you're maxing out a tt maf, and need to move up to an s4 maf or bigger. I made between 265 and 270hp at the wheels on 3 runs today, and it's running way rich at the moment just to be safe.

Can the S4 MAF be used instead of a 225hp MAF without remapping?

RS4/S4 size one on mine (for the moment) and no its not a good idea. Does not give much signal resulution on idle for example... for a mere 4cyl engine of small capacity. = erratic idle.

S3 sized one with proper software scaling is more appropriate and good for mid to high 300's if not a little more.

software scaling or special mod?(not).
Serious question, why can't we ditch the maf and run a straightforward map sensor?

interrelation of MAPs in the ecu requiring these sensors.

go stand alone and forget about MAF's but also loose some of the nice Bosch features too.

People do run without.. (on Vortex you read it frequently)

hmmm, not totally sure but i think that porkka 911 turbo run bosch maf's?
I did once have a whole bosch sensor catalogue.

If they do run Bosch, I hope its a more reliable sensor than they use on VAG cars.
diabolical.

Bosch are cr4p quality components in this respect. What happened to Bosch quality eh? terrible these days in MAF's and they get away with charging for replacements (on exchange!) :censored:
