Don't worry dude Ive had many many sets of coilies on many different cars over the years. I know what to expect.

I'm not getting coilies for comfort! I'm getting them because I want adjustable height to enable me to get the car exactly as I want it. Springs don't really have sufficient drop for me, unless I get some made up for me. Which is a possibility.

As for Jamex, they are carp. I've had everything from weitech to H&R clubsport coilies on corrados and golfs, and in my experience you get what you pay for. The ones currently on my car feel awful. On certain roads they really flow well, but show them a hole of any sort and you can't even accelerate evenly because you're bouncing off the bloody accelerator! They also feel flexible if you know what I mean! Perhaps under-engineered pistons?

All this nonsense about how they're all the same as they're made in the same factory is utter pants! Yes, some may share springs with different colour powder coat, but the dampers are not the same trust me! There are some pretty major differences, such as lack of helper springs on the kw's which appeals to me.

Also the 30% updated damping is a real misnomer. It means nothing on its own. The real key to comfort and performance is how the springs and dampers work together. The H&R clubsports I had were unbelievably hard. But once up to a decent speed they were actually very comfortable. Total mare around town though, and used to stick a wheel in the air whilst reversing off a dropped kerb! Lol

Really, what I want to know, is how do kw v1 ride compared to weitechs and ap's?

Many thanks

Will

If u know so much about coilovers an had so many why the hell are u on asking for advise, also your absolutely wrong, alot of coilovers are made by the same manufacturer, Eibach and KW for instance, have u ever taken them apart and looked at the internals, I have.

Another thing, you mention how the spring and damper work together, with all these coilovers you mention, you seem to neglect the fact they all compress the spring to adjust ride height which affects the handling and any spring preload goes out the window, not to mention the fact your wishes bones are way past there optimum angle!!

All these myths, it's next to impossible to track down any solid specifications on alot of the coilovers for the VAG range, only marketing buzz words, people seem to rely on word of mouth, find the technical specs and there you will also find your answer.

But in my experience you cannot slam any car down to the ground and expect anything other than crap ride quality.

That's whats putting me off changeing from standard. It's a lot of money to spend on sombody elses word. What suits other people may not be what I want from the feel of my car. I don't want to slam mine and comfort is important. I keep looking at the Weitec coilovers as they are a good price and seem to be good quality. I also like the look of the Bilstien B12 dampers and springs. Then I think I should hold off for a year and buy what I really want the KW V3. Decision decisions...
I'll have to see how my tiered old suspension fells when I have the newly bought Neuspeed ARBs fitted.

I know a fair bit about coilies because I've had many sets you bell end! What's got your goat fella? Never had them on an lcr so asking for advice. Sorry to put you out so much lol. That's why the HELL I'm asking ;)

I'm absolutely wrong about the ones made in the same factory am I? Re read my post carefully. They're not all idetentical is what I said. And they're not. They may be very similar but they ain't identical. Fact. Again, what's your beef with that?

So people rely on word of mouth cos its hard to find actual specifications? That's why I'm asking you knobber.

Chill out pal. If for some reason you don't like me asking questions, don't read my thread! :)

You come across as a right **** there mate. No need to throw your toys out the pram is there?

That was a strange combination of 'fella', 'pal' and 'mate', mixed with 'bell end', 'knobber' and 'right ****'!

I thought it was a good combo myself.

My point was, what exactly is wrong with asking for advice on coilovers just because I've already had many sets?

I've had far more cars than I've had coilovers, yet I still ask for advice on cars.

I chose my terms carefully, so as not to cause real offence. I call my mates far worse!

But really, berating someone for asking advice? Ridiculous

I'm aware of the limitations of coilies. I'm aware that if you deck your car it won't handle particularly well. And I'm aware that if you do slam the car the affect on pretty much all coilies will be a fairly uncomfortable ride.

All I want to know is, which of the previously mentioned coilies are most comfortable?!

It's a fairly straight forward question that doesnt require all sorts of other input :)

Double-6s, you can't go wrong with KW Variants, get the best model you can afford (V1, V2, V3) and get the Inox version.

You won't be disappointed.

Lol, you got your advise, the Kw are more comfortable than the Jamex, you just choose not to take it and contradict people's advise.
