Stage 2 update

Ok so it's bin a while but thought it about time I update my RR :D

So it was a cold Monday morning and I set off to Amd as I was booked in for :

Stage 2 custom re-map

Milltek 3" D/pipe and Decat

Polybush dogbone engine mounts(both)

Brake fuid service

Unfortunately half way down the M25 I noticed my clutch started to slip a little in 6th from low revvs so when I reached Amd I was a little nervy about getting a stage 2 as wasn't sure my clutch would survive.

After a short conversation and alot of reassurance from Shaun I decided to get the stage 2 done anyway and what a transformation :-o

Some photos of the dyno print out before and after Stage 2

I must say although the curves not as smooth as it could be (due to the clutch :censored: ) I was really impressed with the figures it made considering and the drive home was AMAZING!!!Smooth, responsive a complete transformation and the bark of the full milltek system left me with a big grin all the way home :D

Before the map I managed to take a sneak peak at Amd's touring car this is a first for me as the last time I was there the beast was hid up.Managed to take a few snaps :D :

Anyway back to results,I was impressed with the dog bone poly engine mount bushes the car felt more planted in acceleration and no wheel hop but I wont be able to see fully how good it is until I've replaced the clutch and flywheel this brings me on to my next part of my RR.

I've had alot of disscusion with Amd and several people via forums on what's the best uprated conversion and so far I'm toarn between two:

The sachs uprated clutch

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-LEON...446&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&sd=261060886677&

or the

Helix clutch kit

http://www.awesomegti.com/car/seat/...hp-165kw-2003?SID=67tqidb0pqki3ihfotq4unf366#

I've had alot of debate over the DMF(dual mass flywheel and SMF (single mass flywheel)
and have chose to stick with the Dmf to save the crank and gearbox and remove the possibility of vibrations but am still undecided on what clutch to have

Let me know what you think and let me know of your different experiences with these clutches as it would really help :)

Really like the figures! [B)]

How loud is the full Milltek decat system? I've got a sports cat version and it sound pretty good! :funk: Although I don't know whether my neighbours like it or not. :D

Thanks for the kind comment they should be alot more but clutch wouldnt allow so map was backed off a bit until clutch replaced.

Under full acceleration full decatted milltek system is rather loud enough that it sets of car alarms and makes people turn and look.During normal driving it just has a nice deep but not over the tpp tone yoi can actually enjoy the long drives :)

I will upload some videos once clutch has bin sorted a couple of drive bys and a couple in the car.

Are you running on stock internals?

Nice figures from the map :)
Now go and get that clutch sorted ;)

:-o Wow D.k you are like a 'Cupra R Guru' can't believe you took the time to post on my RR thanks very much for your kind words and yes clutch is my no.1 prioritiy and this is the debate atm what do you think is the best upgrade clutch wise Sachs or Helix kit?

I'm yet to meet you in person and was looking forward to seeing your Lcr at the RR day on the 7th but unfortunately due to the clutch [:@] work must come first.Since I first joint Scn your Lcr has bin one of the no.1 examples and I am yet to see it in person this brings me on to my next question would you arrange a RR Day at Amd during the summer??(pretty please) :D

 Steady on mate my heads big enough as it is

I'm still running the original clutch in mine and it's held up really well, If I was to change it 'd probably go for the Awesome GTi kit, EL and t0m both run it and both seem very happy with it.

It's a shame you cant make it on Sunday it's looking like a massive turn out.
We normally do 2 per year, this one is a bit later than normal so the next one will probably be sometime between September and November.
There is another RR day at AmD on May 19th, it's being organised by Comrades or VAG (COV) which I'm going to try and get to.

You have the right to have a big head mate alot of time and effort you have spent on a fine example of the vag world so be proud of it :D

Mmmm May this could be possible thankyou for your advice I think that has made my choice :) it is just a direct replacement for the old clutch no modifying involved is there D.K?

I will deffo be up for the second RR day you arrange D.k so make sure you keep me informed :D

The Awesome kit is a straight swap.

Keep an eye on the meets section, as soon asI set a date it'll be posted up in there ;)

Ok will do.:)

Can you do me a link on here as there are two helix clutch kits do you know if they provide a new flywheel with these kits?

We've just had a look and it don't look like it's on there any more, might be worth drop Al@Awesome an email and ask

Ok thanks for your help I will email Al and ask him (I will let him know you referred me to them ;))

Do you know of anyone who has replaced clutch and bin ok leaving there Dmf?or do they all eventually go shortly after? sorry to ask so many questions but I like to get different opinions and especially from one of the 'Gurus' ;)

Yes at the moment I am looking to rebuild and uprate engine but not yet as only want to reach 300bhp no more.why do you ask?
I'm just curious. I don't know if I'll have to change the internals or not if I want to take the stage 2 route in the near future. :)

Not really too sure mate, I guess it depends how badly worn the flywheel is when you take it out.

Mmmm why are clutches such a pain in the ass I was going to purchase the sachs uprated clutch and smf but I heard your cranks will go in your engine with an smf  I just dont know....

Everyone has different opinions but I mean my D.m.f has bin on the car since it was made thats 10 years lol and the clutch too so really needs replacing tbf just dont want to make the wrong decision as it's my lil project my pride and joy so would be gutted if chose the wrong kit.

Ive mailed Al had advice from Amd,yourself, wildwilly and several others but will have to just go with the flow I suppose.Do you know of any clutch performance specialists??

If your going to a track all the time I would uprate your engine but if you maintain and look after your car then it should happily see stage 2 ok on standard internals just dont thrash the guts out of it all the time like any car :D or just have a stage 2 but have your map backed off a little bit until your ready.

First I'd like to buy every upgrade which is necessary for stage 2. I already got the turboback system from Milltek and I have summer plans to buy an Airtec FMIC (or similar). A TIP will also be needed, after these I can go and have a remap. My only problem is these TIPs are designed for RHD cars... :(

Mostly I use my LCR on public roads, it's a daily driven car. [B)]
