LCR cambelt VS Borrowed time..

Well just had my Belt changed & water pump,

Pump is a tiny bit grubby, but spins AS NEW!

Belt - I think could do another 100k! Its NOT freyed one bit, Clearly an OEM belt is built to do the 100k+ as mentioned, I was crapping myself everytime I drove it before hand - All for nothing it seemed.

Better to be safe though.

I had mine done last month, and i only did it because engineers at work were telling me horror stories about the costs involved if it goes bang. Originally was going to do it in March alongside a major service....but mine cost best part of £400, then my MOT and tax was due in the same week also, so best part of £600 disappeared.

I knew the car was overdue though, it a 55 plate but only 37k on the clock. Once removed, the belt looked fine (check my car thread), and i can clearly remember driving like miss daisy in the days leading up to it getting changed. I even considered walking into work and i live miles away from my workplace.

Lol it was 1 and a half years overdue and i was PANICKING 2 days before. Really relieved it was done though, even though my overdraft took a beating.

i did chrisGTL's belt on his R this week and whilst it'd only done 42k from new and was on an 05 plate the belt edges were already fraying.
