LCR Mintex Pads

Yes they will fit
Yes the warning wire is fine
Yes they are cheap
They have been available for at least 18 months maybe more, so nothing new :shrug:

What an absolute bargain go ahead and buy them








You may want to do a search on here first though, radical idea I know but hey :shrug: try searches involving sh1t+brake pads+ failure+track days :cartman:

There are certain things that you can skimp on, Brakes are not one of them, They are cheap for a reason. You put all your faith in the stopping ability of your car, think about it.

I think everyone is trying to tell you to save your money and buy some decent pads. Yes the mintex you originally posted about will save you about £50 over the OE brembo's and the ebay specials much more, but how much is your insurance excess?
If you're used to the stopping power of the original pads and fit the ebay pads, I guarantee you that the car in front will come up much faster than you would like it to.

If you want to save yourself a few £££'s then go to Badger 5's section and give bill a ring about the Ferrodo pads. They are tried and tested and still a bit cheaper than originals.

Also "what brake pads shall I get for my LCR" is almost a weekly question on here so that's why you got the response you did. The search button is invaluable - there are hundreds of threads discussing exactly this topic.
 
People seem to conflict each other on the opinion of these - some say they're as good as of OE pads, others say they're absolute rubbish.

Has anyone actually used these, original and, say, ferodo 2500s to compare?

Roger did... since sold his LCR
mintex ate his disks, std were better, PF01's were awesoem stopping but aggressive dust, and he liked very much the DS2500's as the best all rounder.

Give the guy a break he's only asking for advice

If people didn't post threads asking questions and just searched there would be about 70% less posts which i don't really think is a good thing.

There are a hell of a lot of people on here that are armed with unbelievable experience and i think it's great that they still offer people advice even though they've probably heard the question a bazillion times before.

Besides i don't think there are any topics left that haven't been discussed about 20 times before.

Not trying to be offensive to ya but if your're so bored with this question stop reading it!!!

All i'd say mate, as someone else did before, that it ain't worth saving money on your brakes.

I had to do my own rears because they went on Christmas Day and felt a total amature doing them myself.
 
Since when have mintex been a poor choice, granted i had grief with some on an ST170 but that turned out not to be the pads, Mintex have been going years and are OE on a lot of high performance cars.
 
its not mintex as a brand m8, its the grade of pad and its ability to cope with the heat of LCR brembo's and weight. overheated pads can and will eat disks, as others have seen from cheap mintex, cooked OE ones, and the Galfer ones on a GB some months back.

Can anyone confirm whether Ferrodo DS2500's have a slightly harder compound than the original Brembo pads and therefore wear the disk quicker!?

Also, and most imortantly can anyone confirm whether any other VAG manufacturers (VW + AUDI) use the same break setup as the LCR?

ds2500 dont wear disks more than oe in my experience no.

only other brembo fitted vag car I know of is ibiza cupra r (mk3) and the RS audi's which have 8-pot brembos etc
