LCR rear tow hook cover

Is there a trick to getting this on?

I have been whacking the basturt for 15 minutes (just received it in the mail - it was missing when I picked the car up) but none of the 4 metal clips will take. The 2 big black chunky ones are in place, but they couldn't hold squat.

ATM it's just dangling waiting for a gust of wind...do I get the mallet out?

It’s a b1tch!! I had to squeeze all the clips with pliers and grease them up lol, I’m amazed it’s still on lol

Fitted this yesterday. Took 10 seconds:

Black clips in place, get a mate to hold, then give it a swift uppercut with palm of hand.

Job done.

It's easy with 2 people: get the black plastic lugs in then get someone to hold the cover so that the metal clips are right up against the holes, but keeping their fingers out of the way so there's a large enough area for you to smack it. Then do just that, give it a good slapping
