I'm going to be polishing the charge pipe soon and i think i read somewhere that there are baffles in the turbo end of the pipe that can be removed, If this is right what benefits will doing this give and is it worth the hassle.
Thanks :D

i had a spare that i sold to a mate who then took the whole silencer part out then sleeved the inside. he fitted it to his LCR but didn't like the sound it made so i bought it back off of him, it turned out he had a boost leak! there is a bit more of a whistle when the turbo spools up (even more so now i have a decent map) and there was a small improvement in throttle response too.

i'm getting mine powder coated rather than polishing it, too much like hard work for me!

Personally I like the polished look - I think TTS do them for £95(?) on a exchange basis if you don't want to do it yourself.

There is an aftermarket one that comes without the baffles, I think Richybigman has one on his if you do a search

Black sounds good and would be far easier to keep clean.
Not heard of anyone going black so you could be the first.
£95 of a polished charge pipe, thats alot for a shiney pipe

I think black would look good. Not that I open the bonnet or show off the engine much. Prefer the subtle look to all the chrome though :)

Like this........

Speak to Feel he made up a load with the baffle removed

Feel even fitted mine for free and left the skin from his fingers on the hot engine.....although in retrospect I'm not sure this was specifically an 'option' offered by him :cartman:

I could hear the turbo a little more, felt slightly better pulling at higher revs if I recall

The main advantage was it looked cool and just like magpie I was attracted to shiny things and couldn;t say no ;)

(For less money you'd have more fun with a short shifter or put the money towards Anti-toll bars IMO ;) )

I'm waiting for the pipe to arrive its standard at the moment and whatever i do to it i'm going to have a go at it myself.
I'v also got another gear selecter coming wich i'm going to try and mod into a short shifter

Sorry for bringing this up again
Right i'm not going to de baffle it now
I was thinking about wraping the charge pipe and the lower pipe that joints the two intercoolers with exhaust heat wrap to try and keep the temps down, what do you guy's think
