unfortunately in carrot cruncher land, there seems to be only a few of us seat boys and girls around.
hopefully i am going to get the alarm chirp done by the stealers, so that one will be sorted.

think my best option will be to get vag.com for myself.

how much did you spend in total cupraloon for your software and cable etc?

sorry to be a pain ska, but there is siht loads of leads on there . i am confused.

dont suppose when you get time , you could send us a linky to the appropriate lead?

the way my luck is going atm, i dont fancy taking a guess!

The lead cost £3.99 + £7.99 P&P from Alpha-bid in the states via Ebay so in total £11.98

and the software licence was $99.00 at current exchange rates thats £49.00

So in total a tad under £62.00

unfortunetly i also cost me a further £60 for a new hard drive & screen for me crappy old laptop, which i hadn't used for 2 years.. [:@]

alpha-bid are here http://search.stores.ebay.com/alpha-bid_vag-com-usb_W0QQfcdZ2QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ3QQfromZR10QQfsnZalphaQ2dbidQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsaselZ53254725QQsatitleZvagQ2dcomQ20usbQQsofpZ0

You will also need either version 311.2 or 409.1 from Ross-tech, more than likly 311.2 which is the one i used

plus the FTDI usb drivers for XP which is the better O/S to use as my Win2K wouldn't work properly.

Also when testing your com ports in vag-com if you cannot get a response, you may need to change the bawd rate of normally com3 from 9600 to 4800 as i had to.

BUT !!!! a word of caution, cheek for a white label under your bonnet which has CAN-BUS stamped on it, if you have this you will need a completley different cable which is a lot more expensive, from what i can make out.

I don't want t put you off, but if your not clued up on computers you might find all this a bit daunting, I used to work in I.T and i found it it very frustrating, tyring to get it all working properly.., so good luck... :D:D

Vag-com Settings

Ok, as a follow up,

I've been in and fiddled with my setting's so far I've

Enabled the interior volunmmetric sensors
Enabled the alarm 'chirps'
Enabled the auto locking over 10mph
Enabled selective unlocking

with the alarm chirps, the standard horn is used to chirp, not a seperate alarm siren but it's ok, it sort of goes 'beep' on unlocking a 'beep' 'beep' on locking, which doesn't sound great Tbh, but it's ok, might change the noise if i can find out how.

My next job will be to enable the auto window roll up, so i'm off the find out how, right now......:)

Loon..

Alarm tones are:
Central Conv Module 46
Adaptation 10
Open Channel 10
choose 0, 1, 2, 3 for different tones, it should tell you which one is which but I can't remember - They correspond to Britain, Germany, Row (Rest of world) for some reason. - Mine did anyway

I am fairly sure the auto window up thing needs a seperate module thing to operate it that you have to buy for the car... I remember that too...

or

Help at all?

I just searched for Autowindows...

I don't know for sure... I wil investigate and let you know.

When you go into each channel, the latest 704 version of VAG-COM tells you what the channel does....Not sure if the older ones do.

I will go through them and perhaps post up all the results when I get a chance.

Perhaps the KVW100 thing is the way forward, I will give it a miss but would be interested to hear your result.
