PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a LC 2001 (51), am experiencing some sort of boost problem at low revs, when pulling from junctions the dump valve seems to dump its pessure too soon, ive fitted a Baily recuirc valve, Samco turbo hose, cold air feed.

Its had this fault for a while and seems to get worse when the engine warms up.

Sorry for the long post but any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thankyou

Steve

leon cupra dump valve problem?

Hi, i am new to the forums, i own a 51 plate LC, with a boost problem i think?, its fitted with a baily recuirc valve, cold air feed, samco hoses, it seems to dump too early at junctions on the pull off.

any help would be great!!!!

Hi mate,

Has your car had any other mods?
My mate a Bailey Dump Valve on his Golf and had loads of problems with the boost and EML coming on.
Bailey advised re routing the hoses to the valve, I know your's is the Re circ valve, but might have a similar issue.
Have you still got the OEM Diverter valve? If so, try that and see if you stil have the same problem.
I presume you've checked for leaks, and that everything is fitted and tightened properly.
I will try and see my mate during the week, and see what he suggest's.

Checked for leaks, also already tried the oem valve and same fault!, driving me mad
could it be the n249 valve bypassing?

car has had no other engine mods, was going to get a remap but need a contact thats trustworthy

silly question but is the valve fitted the right way round? (not the same as the factory one if memory servs me correctly?)

failing that try taking the vac from the plenum as that may have a bit better vacume. failing that id say boost leak. check front of bay by the intercooler (rubs through -common)

Can you actually feel a loss in power or is it just the dumping sound?
Baileys have been known to stick when they get hot apparently. How old is it? If this has been happening since changing the DV i`d try 007p if you know anyone who would lend you one for 10mins.

If you can find anyone with vagcom locally and log the requested/actual boost it should give you a better idea of whats going on:)

Mine does the same thing. Quite common... the ecu thinks that the boost is not needed and tells the vacuum reservior to dump boost to protect the engine (ie. over boost protection).

I either notice it less or have adapted my driving style cause I don't notice it as much. I also noticed a massive improvement after fitting my filter and DV.

You could always try bypassing the N249... guide for the LCR but same for LC:

Hi mate, it has a loss of power when this happens, and get the dump sound, not loosing any power anywhere else, have psi gauge fitted and boost is reading 10psi under full throttle but not sure if this is fitted correctly?, also had diagnos and said 15.08 psi under full boost?

Strange, cant see a split pipe either!

think my bailey DV keeps throwing fault codes, no limp mode, just fuel bank trim lean etc...
also had wastegate test, reading 95%

Recuirc valve - baily, also cold air feed pie fitted, not had any mapping done as yet

Mine did this, (007) i bought the spring up grade kit from forge fitted it today yellow and blue Spring both work and it sorted it, car pulls a lot better and smoother, drove it all day and never did it once really happy.

might be worth giving jabbasport a ring as their not far in peterborough. reccomend them as a mapper and they know the 20vt backwards so if you have any faults they should be able to tell you whats up.

phillc, do you know if i can get a bailey spring kit?, or whether the forge ones will fit?

try bailey website, think scoring on the pistons is qute common on them, but as phill says, if your spring is weak it'll dump prematurely.
