They're Michelin Pilot Sports. But I'm definately worried now so will get them checked out tomorrow.

Update - the front were bordering on being unlegal so given the longevity of them I don't see any reaon not to replace with the same.
Anyone know the difference between Pilot Sports and Pilot Sports 2 (which seem slightly cheaper)?

Blimey. I've just replaced my Pilot Sports at 20k, and I've not been excessively hard on them...
The fitters were fairly picky about the exact details in order to get exactly the right ones, as apparently there are a number of different Pilot Sports, in both construction and tread pattern...

P6000s are the only tyres I've ever voluntarily got rid of before wearing them out. Fine in dry weather, not so bad in the wet. But in the damp, they really gave me no confidence at all, given the ABS a workout, and understeer a-go-go. This was on a Rover 420, which was like a barge at best, so maybe they'll be ok on the Leon, but I'll be interested to see your views...
I have Michelin Pilot Sport 2's (225/40x18) on my Leon Cupra TDI. They replaced Goodyear GSD3's and IMO the PS2's are a much better tyre......better in the dry, equal in the wet, predictable, wear well, decent ride quality and they give much better feedback. I believe they are the XL version but not sure on that. They are more expensive but Kwik Fit sometimes do deals e.g. 4 for the price of 3 and Costco only sell Michelins and are pretty cheap. Thanks to a thread on here I got mine off eBay......£350 for 4
but that was a while ago.If you just change the fronts I would go with the same version of the Pilot Sport and put the new tyres at the back......although if you've got 45k out of them I would change all 4

How can anyone actualy qoute tyre mileages that their getting?! it comes down to so many points! road surfaces where you live, town/country driving and how hard you actualy accelerate and corner the car! think about it! you cant give realistic factual figures!!!
My leon Cupra Tdi came fitted with pilot sports all round and when i came to replace them i already decided i was going to replace the 2 worn fronts (at about 20k for those that really want to know!) with a pair of goodyear eagle f1s.
I swapped them to the back of the car and as soon as they wore in the rear of the car was alot more stuck to the road. obviously when i needed new fronts i bought another pair and they totaly changed the way the car handled. the michelins i found wernt very good at all with grip and i have also been put off michelin tyres as on my old clio 172 michelins have so far been the only set of tyres i have ever aquaplaned on... (45 mph and they had good tread depth!).
f1s are awesome in the wet and the dry (i have yet to properly drive them on snow which meant to be their downfall!).
my advice to anybody wanting to get a new set of tyres is to go for the f1s, no hesitation, you wont be disapointed!
Look at the reviews: auto express magazine performance tyre of the year (a few years running i believe) and this was the original (in its mk 1 spec!) tyre that was fitted as standard to the mclaren f1 super car!!!

I opted for the Goodyear Eagle F1's when i needed two new front tyres around six months ago and I think they perform really well in dry and wet conditions.

Msnow, Goodyear Eagle F1s aren't great if you do over 20k miles a year since you'll be buying tyres every six months at a potential cost of £400quid for 4 tyres (yes, I'm generalising here).
I ran a set of Michelin Pilot Primacy on my Golf TDI before the Leon, did 45k miles on them of mostly motorway and A-road, never getting them to squeel under load (which being a harder compound, is very easy to do). After 45k, they still had 3.5mm of tread on all 4 weels. They had been rotated at 25k.
Whilst it's easy to generlise that such and such is the best tyre for whatever reason, it boils down to personal circumstances as well in that someone doing a large number of years per annum will want different tyres to someone doing the national average per annum.
As for aqua-planing, I can't say I've experienced it with the Michelin Pilot Primacy but have on various other tyre brands/models.
I bought my Leon in the middle of June 06, with 5.5k on the clock. It now has 13.5k on the clock and the bridgestone tyres it came with are very close to the legal limit. I certainly won't be replacing the tyres with Bridgestones even though the handling on them was very good when pushed to see what they would do due to cost really. Either a set of Pilot Sports or Primacy HP will be on the way for me!

Interesting. I guess that the Pilot Primacy is a considerably harder compound than the Sport - I don't drive like a hooligan in the Leon either (lots of B-road though), but I've certainly taken a good chunk out of the Sports in the last 6 months/10k miles.
I never ever remember to swap fronts/backs on any car either...
My FR came with Bridgestone RE040s worn down to the limit after 12800 miles of traffic driving with a little motorway here and ther...
It's not that surprising - a heavy diesel engine over the front, with loads of torque available at low revs. I think I did ok to get 19k out of my original Contis. My F1s are far better tyres grip-wise, but as I do a lot more short runs there's no way I'll match that with them. They've done about 7k so far and are past half way.
Only had my fr a couple of months, and it came with Millenium Stars on the front. Had never heard of them before, but by christ do they grip! (wet and dry).
Knowing my luck, they will only last 6 months...
