Leon FR TDI Engine Cover problem

Interesting reading. The clip issue happened to me after last service. There were three clips broken and I had put it down to the mechanic pushing the cover on too hard. All clips were broken as thought the pin on the underside of the covers had been pushed through the clip. The dealer ordered a handful of clips, I fitted them myself. The covers only need a light push to locate. It also fixed a bit of a rattle at certain revs. I noticed that the new clips felt pretty rubbery compared to the originals. Maybe a different design/material or maybe the originals had gone brittle with the heat from the engine.

Cheers

More like the air intake box is vibrating.

I had a problem between 1250-1700rpm, nowt a bit of silicone sealant cant fix to dampen it.

can you elaberate on this slightly as mine seems to be doing it also at them revs.

what part did you seal?

Thought I'd update this link I started as I managed to get the problem sorted a few months back. It was the same as DerbyFR in that the plastic undertray was not secured. Only reason I ever found out was screamed past father in law on the M1 and he saw it flapping around. Franchised dealer idiots left the bolts out. Very annoying.

Either way, hope this helps anyone in future who has problem. I drove for about 8 months with it flapping! Motorways were very annoying...!
