If it was a boost pipe, wouldnt it be white steam? If its black and sounds terrible, it might be a bigger problem? Email awesome or someone, their very helpfull.

Whas it black/blue smoke as you say or was it white? Black/blue is possible oil, and white is steam?

Heh, don't cause too much concern, with Diesel engines black smoke = overfuelling - as this car would be if it had lost most of its intended mass of air, white = completely unburned fuel - you only tend to see this if the engine is being cranked over but not lighting up!

What ever it is, its good your not going to run it till its looked at. Im not trying to worry you, i was asking a question.

If its black smoke its unburnt fuel. I honestly would put money on it being either the upper or lower pipe. Hear about it too many times. Surely there should be a sticky about this issue in either the mk4 section or TDI section.
Must have bare minimum one post a month about this.

No it wouldnt be on DIESEL. Boost leak/pop on a DERV is lots of thick, thick black smoke.. see youtube video in siggy for a example!

YAY I WAS RIGHT TOM. WAS WRONG!!!11one. Id imagine if its the one im thinking you will need to take the undertray off, then just jack it up as high as you can (safety first so dont be daft!) and go from there. If still not, and you fancy a day outside showing all your street how good you are, take the undertray off, bumper off, wheel arch lining off then jack it up and fix, and put all back together again (with a few screws less of course for next time!)

Also weres the best place to get new boost pipes? Do fordge or anyone like that do coloured ones?

It has just blown off, so doubt you will need a new one, could be a case of the 'clip' has become less 'clip' like, in which case a new one of those wouldnt go a miss, but they are pretty cheap from a dealer.

As for new poost pipes, would you be interested in lower boost pipes from Forge? only reason I ask, is im currently dealing with them, and intend to ask for some to be made up for me, and a few other diesel owners, if you are also interested I could look at a 'complete' set for people of the lower boost pipes, and top boost pipes leading to the EGR, the rest in the middle would depend on what intercooler you have mind.

Yeh i think its gunna be a bumper of job and go from there. As for the pipes, im interested in a complete set. depending on price. how much would i be looking? I have a SMIC, but may be thinking about getting a FMIC later in the new year.

No probs mate, and no idea on price as I just mentioned it to the guys at Forge when I was last down there a few weeks ago and they seemed interested.

Will find out more, so look out ;)

Good to hear it is nothing too serious also nice to hear people are trying to prevent this happening. I worry this may happen and puts me off a remap as no one at Seat seems to have had a replacement improved part made. If you guys do sort something can you let me know as may be a wise investment as jubilee clips are okay but not for the long run.
