Hi,i need two lower wishbones for my 03 cupra r,just replaced the front tyres bold on the inside,garage phoned the stealers,they quoted them £280:-o,apparently its a dealer only part:confused:,anyone replaced theres and how much did they get them done for?,or anywhere i can get them cheaper?...cheers in advance
 
hi,i was told by the garage that to take the wishbones off would damage them,as they give them a good hammering..hmmmm..if the bushes can be replaced i`m all for that.

The old bushes need to be pressed out (can be cut/burnt out if DiY job). If your garage don't know how to use a press...

If the bushes are knackered they can be replaced, probably easier and cheaper to fit powerflex ones.
 
Load of wank mate!! Ive changed two sets of wishbones and bushes on my 4motion Golf in the last 6 months (wishbones first, then uprated them later).

Where are you based?

It took me and my mate about 2 hrs in total, including changing the brakes. I did however have my old wishbones hanging around, so they got the powerflex treatment during the week, and a straight swap on the weekend.

If you can get some second hand wishbones it'll save you time and effort as you can poly them up during the week, then replace them at the weekend.

Probably take 1-2hrs to replace the bushes too.
 
The bushes go mate, but for the orice and ease its more economical to change the whole wishbone, unless you want poly bushes.
 
The bushes go and are a bitch to fit unless you've got access to a decent press.
You can pick new wishbones up for an LC for about 30 quid a side with bushes (LCR ones appear to only be available from Seat). Swapping the wishbones over is a lot easier then sweating your bristols off fitting new bushes.

As Stan said once you've got a spare pair you can get them re-bushed and ready to swap over at your leisure.
 
Anyone know what other cars are the same wishbones as the LC/LCR? I bought some brand new ones for my 4mo, from a local guy for £17 each!!!

The Audi S3/TT/LCR are forged arms, not pressed steel.

There seems to be some doubt whether all of the TT items are the same and this could be due to the different drivetrain/power unit configurations that were available on the TT (180/210/225BHP FWD & 4WD were available).

I know Audi S3 and LCR are identical forged arms and my educated guess would be the 210 & 225 TT arms are identical also.

Yeah, but I wonder if they are the same/similar to the 4mo, or R32, parts?
 
nice one. so hows it affect the ride/handling.
if powerflex is stiffer, it must make things harsher.

My 4mo is on standard suspension, at the moment, and the bushes have improved it no end. Its not too harsh at all, but it does tighten it all up nicely.

However, on lowered/stiffened suspension it may be different.
